These are two of Elvis' strongest albums in my humble opinion but KOA is the best album he ever made, bar none, so it gets my vote. Any other fans out there share my preference for KOA?

KOA for me.

MLAR is great, and it contains some of my favorite songs, but it reminds me of a rough time in my life, so I tend to avoid it. Unless I want to wallow.

Mighty Like a Rose.

I don't really like either though. Both are nice. But there's something about them...

LV, shouldn't I wait for the reissue??? That's what most people say. The only reissue I don't have is IB, and that's b/c I bought a 5 dollar rykodisc version at an old record store in Ohio. :)

MLAR is always top 5 for me, his voice is great on this album, and the bonus disc gave us the fantastic Just Another Mystery (don't you just love the way he sings "metronooooome". Don't forget the original album contains the following wonderful tracks All Grown Up, CCIU#4, So Like Candy, Hurry Down Doomsday, Invasion Hit Parade, and for me one of his greatest singles in The Other Side Of Summer.

Have I convinced you yet? Good! then get your vote in.

Have people been voting in terms of the album or in terms of the whole deluxe package? I've just been voting for the albums themselves, and I think we should look at them in that context. Certain albums are made a LOT better by their bonus discs, others stand up on their own.

I'm voting on the basis of original album only. In fact, I specifically voted for the UK version of TYM and the US version of Armed Forces! With Taking Liberties and TBMATHYF it matters not.

OH MY GOD! Where have I been that I didn't see this thread! :o

I love MLAR, but I know most people on the board have heard my case for KOA before.

There is such a variety of music on KOA, and despite in the liner notes where he said he didn't feel like the album came together and there were feelings of discontent among musicians, I love this album and I believe it has a lot of emotion and hurt invested in it.

When no other music works for me, I put in KOA. It's the Elvis I keep coming back to. Indoor Fireworks, American Without Tears, Suit of Lights, Brilliant Mistake - I never tire of it. It grounds me.

KOA for me.

It's original albums you should be voting for. There have been separate poll threads about the best re-issues. This is all about the album as it stood when released. 8)

I think KOA is Costello´s Top.

I can´t number the times I have listened to this great album.

Mighty like a rose is also great, but some songs are a bit weak ("Georgie", for example, or "Invasion Hit Parade", or "Hurry down Domsday"), and that thing they also say about an over-arranged album I´m afraid to say it´s a fair commentary in this case.

I have never heard about a better way to introduce yourself to an English girl -I mean, if you want to be funny and have a flirt with her- than "I´m the Sheriff of Nottingham and this is Little John").

At least, I tried it once... and it worked!

So the song isn´t that bad, in my opinion.

I like the version on the bonus disc of Blood & Chocolate better, I think.

Voted earlier, but forgot the commentary...

Definitely King Of America.

"Shoes Without Heels", "Poisoned Rose"...

There are sections of this album you cn wallow in, as well.
