How about a "battle of the losers" with the winner being redeemed back into the main comp?

The sudden-death method is a bit harsh.

This is an FA Cup style knockout competition!! We do not let 'losers' back in. This is not the European Champions League where everyone gets another chance until the one we want to win wins.. This is about the romance of the cup, trips to Yeovil, muddy pitches in winter, Meat pies of a dubious origin, Spurs winning when there's a one in the year etc........
