Does anyone know why Elvis is appearing with the Brodskys at this particular time?
Is he plugging a new album with them? I thought the big deal for 2009 was the new T-Bone Burnett-produced country album!

Hopefully they try out some new songs for a 2010 Elvis/Brodsky release.Neil. wrote:Does anyone know why Elvis is appearing with the Brodskys at this particular time?

I think it problably all started in Glasgow: as part of the Royal Concert Hall's 2009 International Season the Brodsky Quartet are signed up to give three separate performances (projects) across three different venues of the city. One of these projects is their "cross-border" collaboration with Elvis. (See http://www.elviscostellofans.com/phpBB3 ... t=+brodsky ). The Bristol date and the London date were problably added later to make it into a (very) small UK tour.
Next year, I expect Elvis promoting/performing his "Perfect Secrets" album.
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

And now Basingstoke:

which has to be an out of town warm up for the Barbican in London the following night.
EC's appearances with the Brodsky Quartet follow almost naturally on from his previous UK appearances with orchestras in Liverpool and Glasgow.
It may simply be easier for him to do this sort of gig, where he is only responsible for himself, rather than have to put the band back together with the costs and work involved. Having said that, it will be interesting to see whether EC brings his own security and sound engineer to the BQ gigs.
Don't rule out some European dates as a duet with T Bone Burnett next year.

Bristol date was "pencilled in" the St Georges diary in April 2008, so there's been some long(ish)-term planning here.

Are you implying that London is more important than Basingstoke?Man out of Time wrote:And now Basingstoke:

No, clearly both the Basingstoke gig and the London gig are warm ups for the Birmingham show on Friday 24 April in (probably) the best venue in the Land - Symphony Hall.

Ahh, the warm pink of its seats and the perfect acoustics - bring it on..... provided EC's voice isn't worn out by then.
