Mouth watering gigs - stunning prices for tickets. I just can't see anyone paying these prices - not me , anyway.

Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe announce Belfast date
15 Dec 2008

Hot on the heels of the announcement of a three-day run at Dublin's Olympia Theatre, Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe have also confirmed a Belfast date.

With Flaco Jimenez and Joachim Cooder also lining up as part of the band, Cooder and Lowe play what seems certain to become one of the hottest tickets of the summer at the Waterfront, Belfast on Sun June 14, ‘09. The Dublin dates are from Wed June 10 to Friday June 12, '09.

Tickets for the Belfast show will be £65 & £60.

I see also Robyn Hitchcock is playing in London with "Friends" on Feb 12th , still undecided about that one but I'm hoping like the NY gig last March Nick has similar to Hichcock and Costello join him up on stage for a couple of numbers. Frankly with or without worth every penny .

I didn't get a ticket for Dublin because of the price. I was up in Belfast yesterday and was passing the Waterfront and decided to check availability. They had plenty. Since the Euro is at , more or less, parity with Sterling the £65 price seemed more reasonable. The Waterfront is bigger than the Olympia but not too big, if you know what I mean. I haven't seen anything there but have heard good reports. So I got a ticket.

The show is about 73 minutes from the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA and post At My Age, apparently from 9/17/2007. A similar set list to what he played this fall in the US

British songwriting icon Nick Lowe will release his definitive best of Quiet Please…The New Best of Nick Lowe on March 17, 2009.

Following his critically acclaimed solo album At My Age which People Magazine called "charming" and "timeless" and his near perfectly rated reissue of the classic Jesus of Cool (rated 9.3 by Pitchfork), Nick Lowe is back with a career-spanning two-disc best of collection. A deluxe version containing original-era vintage videos for classic tracks and live concert performance will also be available.

Quiet Please…The New Best of Nick Lowe looks back across the hit heavy career of one of pop music's most influential statesmen. As the bassist and songwriter for Brinsley Schwartz, Lowe played a key role in the British pub rock movement of the 1970s and through his stint as house producer at Stiff Records he would help draw the blueprint for the modern indie rock label. His rough-hewn production work for The Damned, Elvis Costello and The Pretenders primed the pumps for the arrival of punk and new wave. More recently Lowe has cemented his status as an artisan of Americana soul with solo albums like The Convincer and At My Age.

The 49-track handpicked set chronicles original compositions from all phases of Lowe's career and exists as the new definitive best of collection for this oft-described 'songwriter's songwriter.' The deluxe version of the set includes a DVD of nine original-era music videos for tracks like "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass," "Little Hitler," "Cruel to Be Kind," as well as a 2007 concert filmed live in Belgium, which sets this collection apart from standard best of albums, and into the realm of a bona fide collector's item.

Yep, I think he recorded this shortly before we saw him last fall. "All Men Are Liars" is up on their site, providing a little taste.

I love the title.. The New Best of... Is this satire or what?

I'm holding out for "the half best, still in the queue, and yet to be done" album. i guess no artist will want to release that.

I clicked the link to buy, and discovered that the yep roc site needs a 2.0 upgrade. Lame shopping cart setup. I'll buy through someone else, for sure.

I went to Holmfirth yesterday where Nick is appearing on 21st May. I looked at the What's On guide outside the venue. Go West get a poster, The Blow Monkeys get a poster, The Blues Band get a poster, a Kate Bush Tribute band even had a poster. And our Nick gets a hand-written notice in felt tip pen!

I got ticket 119 so there are plenty left. For those who have never been to the Holmfirth Picturedrome, let's just say it not the Bridgewater Hall! But its a great little venue!

Holmfirth is famous for being the location for the filming of UK comedy series Last of the Summer Wine, and world famous Yorkshire landscape artists Ashley Jackson has a shop there!
