I don't really get the tone in this dialogue. I'm surprised that EC personally tweets.

Modern-day outlaw Eric Church tipped his hat to the old tradition of name-dropping in country songs with his 2015 single “Mr. Misunderstood.” The song lists Hubbard, along with better-known songwriters Elvis Costello and Jeff Tweedy, as key influences on Church’s musical growth.

“The first time I met Eric Church, I asked how I’d ended up in that song,” Hubbard says. “He said that they were writing it, and on the turntable was Elvis Costello, me and Jeff Tweedy. So, he just put that in the song. He said he’s a big fan of my writing, so he wanted to let his audience know about me. Ever since that song came out, I’ve got a few hits on my website. It was real nice of him to do that.”

Some unwatermarked (hurrah!) archive photos of Elvis have appeared on ebay. These are from a promo appearance in Sweden in February 1989 and from Montreux Jazz Festival in May 1986.

Chalkie tells a story of being with Elvis as they were leaving a BBC TV studio, seeing the double bass , Elvis posing with it for Chalkie and so the photo happened. That's my hazy recollection - I'll look for a link/source later.

Interesting variation on the Imperial Bedroom cover , by Alan A. Petralba in the Philippines.

https://homejobber04.blogspot.ie/2017/0 ... erial.html

On this work the original album cover art design has been pared. With it went the artist's name and the album title.
What remained of the original image was pasted at left and the image was extended to the right with the addition
of a combination of mirrored images and some misplaced and altered elements.

Thus, the snake charmer's double, while trying to stimulate the "reclining octopus," instead causes the cobra to
respond to his crooked charms which, in turn, alarms him, and gets him ready to flee with an expanded right wing.
And not only that. The letters "P-A-B-L-O" on the holes of the five creatures that look like zippers handing over his
head now spell "O-L-B-A-P." Luckily enough, the snake charmer is able to control the "reclining octopus" by stepping
his platformed left foot on her last tentacle which doesn't look naughty at all because Barney Bubbles called her
"reclining octopus" instead of something else.

Ran into Elvis Costello yesterday. "You still play that thing? Not every day you run into a Lute player..."

I went to see Al Stewart last night with Tim Renwick on guitar. Tim is connected tenuously to the EC story having been in Quiver with Bruce, in Steve Nieve & the Playboys (the house band on the Jonathan Ross chat show) and he played on the Attractions album Mad About the Wrong Boy. Bruce also played bass on some early Al Stewart albums.

Mark Zenone tweets that he is lucky enough to have the three join-together ads for Elvis Costello's first album My Aim Is True that appeared in August 1977 simultaneously in Sounds, New Musical Express and Melody Maker. A Barney Bubbles design .

RuPaul includes Painted From Memory on What RuPaul Can’t Live Without.

"Oh my god, so Burt and Elvis created this song for the movie Grace of My Heart, and they loved each other so much they made this album. And it’s a masterpiece. I’ve always loved Burt Bacharach, who’s an international treasure. He’s so smart and creates pop music with under chords of jazz. He’s a fucking genius. And with Elvis Costello, I appreciated some of his songs growing up, but his voice is an acquired taste. After years and years, I finally got it. Now, I love Elvis Costello. On this album, the track “This House Is Empty Now” is beyond. I actually ran into Elvis Costello, and he told me they were turning this album into a Broadway musical."
