No cheating now....but there are 4 EC songs beginning with the word BIG, and 5 beginning with the word LITTLE. Name them.

Your 30 seconds starts now...

Also, the Tom Waits song Broken Bicycles on For the Stars...is it on a Tom Waits album anywhere? Serious question - I can't find it!

It's listed as simply "Big Nothing" on the Straight to Hell soundtrack.

Yes, it was BIG boys, sister, sister's clothes and tears. "Big Nothing" is listed as A Town Called Big Nothing.

LITTLE Atoms, Palaces, Savage, Triggers and Goody Two Shoes. No prizes I'm afraid!

Does Little Boxes count (it's not an EC song but it's a song that meets the other criteria!!!)?

The new Skip Bolen Photography website has been officially launched this week. The website features an eclectic mix of both black + white and color photographs primarily of musicians in New Orleans; downtown street scenes of New Orleans, Los Angeles and New York City; rural water towers from Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas; and lastly, stills photography from Fox Television's K-Ville.

I just saw a trailer for a new Irish film that makes great use of Oliver's Army-

- about 1.30 into the trailer.

32A (2007)

It opens here next Friday so I'll see how it features in the film then.

'Army is used to great effect in a disco scene. In the 1979 setting we see teenagers actually dancing their socks of to Elvis, a truly bizarre sight. It is , of course , accurate in that , as Elvis has commented, he was dangerously close to being a pop star back then. Otherwise the film is harmless enough affair, gently portraying the usual teenage angst thingy. It's unapologetically female in it's tone ; the '32A' title refers to a bra size.

'Elvis Costello, who clearly is just boiling over with metaphors' - best summary I've heard in awhile !

http://www.pridesource.com/article.shtml?article=31678

One-on-one with Aimee Mann

8/28/08

(extract)

That definitely fits in with your work, because that is something that continues to set you apart from other songwriters is that you have this Sondheim-esque turn of phrase. Is that something that comes easily to you or is it something with which you struggle?

I think you just have to care about it. It doesn't come super easy. It doesn't come as easy as it does for somebody like Elvis Costello, who clearly is just boiling over with metaphors. But I think if you care about it and spend a little time, eventually something occurs to you that you like better than the other thing. For me it's just a matter of finding where you draw the line. That's usually when I've been working on something for a while and I kind of have a feeling of it's probably not going to get much better than this.
