Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .
Following the Nick Lowe gig on Thursday I had a sleep on the sofa so as not too wake her ladyship when I was woken from my slumber about 3am Friday morning to what I thought was someone singing a bad karaoke version of Oliver's army. When I came fully round it turned out to be 6 music's live hour and it was an Elvis and imposters show from 2004 I think they said. Obviously it wasn't a bad version. Probably worth seeking out on the BBC sounds app if you have access.
Oliver's army was on 5 live again on Sunday morning on Up All Night during the virtual jukebox section

An episode of the new season of Veronica Mars just revealed that the Mars family motto is “I used to be disgusted. Now I try to be amused.” Now where have I heard that before?
Also, in a previous season, the song “Veronica” (a karaoke version) was featured.

Today (July 24) is the Feast of St. Declan of Ardmore (an Irish Saint from the 5th Century). A blessed St. Declan's Day to all!

I’ve seen this picture a few times but I don’t know where it’s from. I’m always struck by the Get Happy!! poster on the wall.

The Juliet Letters will be performed in Copenhagen on Friday as part of Copenhagen Opera Festival.
Danish rocksinger, Kira Skov, will perform together with Nordic String Quartet.

There's a brief scene in Danny Boyle's epic movie "Yesterday" where the PR Guy is running thru his marketing strategy, in the background are large black and white images, mocked up for the campaign to launch Jack Malik's first product. Unmistakably one is JM striking the full This Year's Model cover pose.

I spotted that
I think calling the film epic is generous. Entertaining yes, but it was also quite frustrating and left many questions unanswered.

It’s only a film. It’s not real.

Ah, that explains why it was projected on a screen in a darkened room

When Mrs Sulky takes me to "the pictures" I end up in a darkened room but I have to wear a special jacket with my arms tied behind me and I never see any pictures on a screen

Watching Quadrophenia night on sky arts on Saturday night. They were talking about how the punk rock attitude was significant in the making of the film. Trevor Laird who played who played Ferdy in the film said 'he didn't like punk rock apart from The Clash who eventually made some great music, The Stranglers and Elvis Costello. I have always loved Elvis Costello'.
About 20 years ago i worked with Trevor briefly he was a security guard at one of the major developments on the Thames

A marketing person from the Betty Nansen Theater told that it had been a succes, so now they repeat the performance.
This time (January 17) I will attend myself and see what is going on.

I was at West Ham United v Bournemouth on New Years Day and there was an article looking back to 1980 by Broadcaster Mark Webster. In the matchday programme. There were photos of Elvis and the Hoover Factory. There was also a short paragraph on the song Hoover Factory.

'Large-diaphragm condenser microphone spring-suspended in an elegant copper ring. Tuned for live performance use with great feedback rejection, ideal for single-micing small acoustic ensembles. As used by Elvis Costello.'
