A Dutch blog -

Google translation -

One of the most versatile musicians we know. Perfect Perfect material so . But without the hits. Maybe better . He is interesting enough. We quote Perfect- editor Frank Beemer : " Costello has always sought the boundaries of pop music , and is also passed over grandiose ( ... ) . Often found to enjoyment of the "professional" critics , moreover , that Costello often too pretentious found / for pop music . I belong to the movement that believes that he has processed again richer in pop music . Influences later Elvis Costello you can easily own "Perfect Vibes " assemblies : from " Elvis is angry " ( ... ) to " fleemt Elvis " and " Elvis to the opera ."

Enjoy!

Meanwhile, dozens of Perfects , but not perfect Elvis Costello ? Perfect Jacco Gardner and Perfect Bertolf , it is still missing , but that a Perfect Strokes ( 1 , although very strong, sufficient number to show the rich variety again ) is submitted . How can one of the best songwriters of the past decades are so misunderstood ? But above all , how can the artist on any of my collective bands have failed to Perfects can not be found ?

High time to make good this omission , but after a fleet-footed start my heart sank quickly into the shoes . Costello released two LPs after his first collector and is there ( with various record companies ) never really stopped. As a high school student in the record store looking for bargains ( a new album took at that time in the hugely expensive record in Zeist just 26.95 , so Blood and Chocolate I bought not just here ) and soon familiar with the mournful quality of the Romanian pressings f 9.95 (you know with that hole in the cover ) , though I could not make sense of all that Costello expenditure with many of the same songs . Collectors so no shortage , and last spring made Costello God help via Twitter ( with the system of the Top 2000 ) his personal top 100 of his own songs known. What can a Perfect Costello still add?

After much renewed listening pleasure , the conclusion was : Enough . It is not the baker that determines whether his bread is tasty. Therefore, a perfect Elvis Costello without the " hits" of the collectors (although there with Costello in terms of the top 40 to his own frustration was rarely observed , except for the totally unnecessary cover of "She" ) : this is the compilation "The First Ten Years " very appropriate . This collection is actually "The Best of The Rest" and , though I say it myself , at least as high quality, and accessible enough for the new , or unhooked Costello listener . I make my way, strongly that there is an alternative to top 20 is of the same class .

That draws Elvis Costello Indeed , above the constant quality of ever new jewels of songs , where many others , their entire careers in vain to continue to search with Perfect acclaimed pop musicians . Costello has always sought the boundaries of pop music , and is also passed over grandiose (think of his escapades with the Brodsky Quartet ) . Often found to enjoyment of the "professional" critics , moreover , that Costello often too pretentious found / for pop music . I belong to the movement that believes that he has processed again richer in pop music . Influences later Elvis Costello you can easily own "Perfect Vibes " assemblies : from " Elvis is angry " (originally on the total whole society , especially later on Thatcher , and later on the music industry, which left too little money in his eyes upon him) , to " Elvis fleemt " (think of his collaboration with Burt B. and all the other ballads ) and " Elvis at the Opera" (with the cathedrals of songs like Riot Act and the Judgement ) .

But that's probably for later. Now it is finally solved! Perfect Costello omission

It was at least the third time in the last few weeks they've used an EC song. I think EIWTB was used last week.

It's a digipack.
The booklet contains 24 pages and has all the lyrics. The middle pages show small pictures of the sleeves of the singles. The booklet contains also a photo of Elvis and the Attractions in a corridor.
It's nice, but nothing that can't be missed.
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

Poster Nov 1977 had a small article about EC and his appearance in Swedish TV
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTzS6UrIWxw

Poster Dec 1977 had this big poster of EC inside but no article or text whatsoever.
The poster was a A2 format (42x58) as shown on the front of the magazine.

Another picture from the same session was used in swedish girlie mag Starlet in January 1984!

More info after the holiday season!

Given how that Elvis has accepted that in the early years of his career he occasionally misbehaved its curious that he feels the need to deny this.

The January 2014 issue of Chronogram- the Arts Journal for the Hudson Valley has a piece on The Golden Notebook, an independent bookstore up in Woodstock. Apparently when EC was promoting his fall solo tour in town at WDST in Levon's barn for the Kingston show he stopped in and left 'with an armload of books". Good on him :D

Leigh "Little Queenie" Harris was days from completing an album when floodwaters from Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, destroyed the studio and unfinished masters, and drove her to relocation in North Carolina.

After several years of performing almost exclusively on the road, she has connected and is working with musicians in her adopted region, all of whom have.an abiding love for the uniquely irresistible sounds of her hometown.

For the first time since her move to North Carolina, she's ready to make a new CD, combining the talents of both new and longtime colleagues.

I didnt see last nights show but the night before there were at least two of Elvis album covers on the backdrop, Blood and Choclate was one. I assume it's the same backdrop for the three shows

Due June '14

http://shelf-life.ew.com/2014/02/20/ant ... er-reveal/

Where does the title come from?

One of Elvis Costello’s most beautiful songs is called “Favourite Hour,” which came out in 1994 — the year I graduated from high school. It’s a little enigmatic, but I always thought it was about the struggle of growing up, and kids who spiral, and what happens when you don’t recognize the things that can save you. There’s a line in it that goes, “Now there’s a tragic waste of brutal youth.” I was always in a lot of trouble back in those days and thought: Yeah, that sounds about right.
