This once-in-a-lifetime concert to celebrate Liverpool's unrivalled status as the World's Capital of pop, rock and contemporary music will be a global event.

It will be a multi-artist concert in front over 35,000 people at the world famous Anfield Football Stadium on Sunday 1 June.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is to join Paul McCartney onstage at the former Beatle's Liverpool gig this weekend (June 1).

The two frontmen will team up at Anfield Stadium gig on Sunday, held as part of the celebrations for Liverpool's European Capital Of Culture accolade.

It is not yet known which song the two will collaborate on.

can hear the results on her show tonight.

If you cannot wait a week, BBC Radio Merseyside 95.8 FM will be
broadcasting Paul McCartney's concert live from Anfield on Sunday 1 June,
2008.

I saw him play there in the early days. When it was closed down he was playing at the (relatively)nearby Floral Hall in Southport shortly after, and dedicated Goon Squad to the cops who trashed trashed the place

The Foo Fighters have a pretty straight cover of Band on the Run in their setlist (and have recorded it as well). That would be a pretty good bet for a Macca/Grohl collaboration.
