ELVIS for LEXUS!

Post by A rope leash »

I just saw Elvis selling Lexus automobiles on CBS.

I kid you not.

WTF?

Is this the end of the world we've been waiting for?

I think it is, Kent!

I was under the influence, but I was watching a real television.

He was in the back seat talking about Beethoven. I guess he was shilling for the sound system.

It's May 1st, not April 1st. This is one month too late for All Fools' Day.

This was seen by my own eyes. It was during that Christine show.

Everybody has a price I suppose. Maybe they threatened the twins.

Maybe he has to make up for bad things he said about Freemasons.

Who wants to bet this makes his next release a hit?

Again tonight during Boston Legal.

I'd still rather have a Cadillac.

The commercial woke my mom up, and she was laughing? I don't know. It was really weird.

The commercial made me anxious.

What - to go and buy a new Lexus? If so, the commercial worked

Hm... 5 or 6 years ago she use to sell Chryslers (and a lot of good that did them!) - her excuse back then was that they were big donors to her Multiple Myeloma fund, so she owed them. So perhaps there's reason to this madness.

It seems like a good time to share this cutting from the Dec.1989 issue of ace E.C. fanzine ECIS -

I saw it during Boston Legal last night, and cracked up laughing. Him conducting along to Mozart (or was it Beethoven? can't remember) was hilarious. The way I perceived it, it's like he's playing a private joke on Lexus: he takes it seriously for the first twenty-five seconds, and then at the end he throws that seriousness out the window. (Figuratively speaking, of course.) At least they aren't using '5ive Gears In Reverse' to sell the cars...

Oh come on! EC doing ads for cars is the height of hypocrisy, given the things he has said on the subject in the past. How much money does anyone need?

You get that kind of talk from older men...

Post by A rope leash »

It makes me sad, too. He has crossed a line I never thought he would.

It reminds me of when George Carlin did it for AT&T. He mentions it in one of his routines, saying if you can't figure out why he did it, then fuck you.

Do you think they gave him and her a Lexus?

And a little while ago she was advertising Rolex watches so I bet hubby got at least one too.

If there's anything that you want
If there's anything that you need
Yes folks, if there's anything that you want or if there's anything that you need, a Lexus is the car for you. With engine sizes ranging from etc etc
