Bill Bailey, Elvis Costello and Sam Warburton sketch their homes for homelessness charity
- last updated Tue 3 Jun 2014

And Finally
Cardiff
South Wales

A host of celebrities have put their artistic talents to use in aid of a Cardiff-based homelessness charity.

Llamau invited comedians, musicians and sport stars to draw a picture of their homes for a charity auction.

Over the last two years, stars including Sam Warburton, Jack Whitehall and Eddie Izzard have contributed drawings.

The pictures will be auctioned at the 'Illustrating Homelessness' event at the Hilton in Cardiff tonight.

The idea behind Illustrating Homelessness is that everyone who has contributed a picture of their homes is, in a way, donating their homes to the homeless!

We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed a picture for this wonderful event.

All the illustrations to be auctioned are unique and represent a great opportunity to own a piece of art penned by your favourite star.

This is actually a very nice hat! It's a actually an American made hat with a French name (I collect German and Austrian vintage hats). My guess is early 1950s but it could be older. It has some wear (especially the reed part of the sweatband and the liner is soiled) but is in decent condition. I think it's fur felt or maybe a fur - wool blend. If the brim dimensions are front to back it would be a small size (28 cm ~ 11 inches) which doesn't make sense. I might contact them ask for the front to back inside measurement. Very interesting (at least to me)!

My site:

http://germanaustrianhats.invisionzone.com/

Update: The hat size is around 59cm (US 7 3/8). The inside front to back measurement (I inquired) is 21cm. This hat size (I also wear this size) makes sense.

Congrats! Let me know if I was correct on the size. Also would abe interested in knowing the brim width. Even with the wear it's better quality than what you find today and also not some trendy hipster hat. Any photos of EC wearing it?

I thought I found a couple of pics of him wearing it, but it's hard to make out if it's the exact hat.

You are correct on the size. I also wear 7 3/8, and it fits perfectly! He must have worn this performing at some point, based on the sweat stain lol.

Fantastic that it fits! That makes it even more special. Can you post a photo of you wearing it? I would definitely send a photo to EC. I am sure he would to like to see it in action. :)

My guess is he owned and wore it. The reason being is that it's a vintage hat and a larger size. Most vintage hats are tiny sizes so more difficult to find larger size ones. You could also wear it to one of his shows and jump around while pointing at it! :)

Probably a box set with two obscure tracks selling for about $500 -a bit like the SSS set(which I have to tell you, I've got signed by The Imposters and EC from Bristol 2013 !! :D
If there is to be a genuine box set , wouldn't it be great if they included a live concert from each period ,,l like the re-issues had started with ?
