Ask an Elvis question like Jerry

What is the deal with the Harmonica bursts on "I Stand Accused"?
Seriously.

That song DOES flow beautifully into Riot Act though...

especially if you're driving at night.

but BLUE, I JUST got the album, so I was unfamiliar.

I'm driving around listening to the song, and BOOM! this harmonica is going buck nutty! I think maybe balance on my car stereo was off a little, cuz it was a little much. Maybe I'm just crazy though. Yeah, i think that's actually it.

When the harmonica comes in it still makes me jump out of my skin if I have it on loud. The best EC cover ever.

please stay.
offa 'kv'.
that gets my vote as the best cover ever.
the moodiness of the whole song.
the strained singing.
yeah, it's slower and all but...
heard it a 100 time and do not tire of it.

Ooh a toughie... I'm drawn between agreeing with Plaything on the Merseybeats, and the cover of Betty Everett's Getting Mighty Crowded.

Dead heat I think.... closely followed by the cover of the Grateful Dead's Ship of Fools.

Ah, another Merseybeats classic. Really want to agree with you there, Ropey, but I can't. 'I Stand Accused' it is. Which reminds me, I have an original 45 of 'Really Mystified' from 1964. Must dig it out.

On the subject of Mersey stuff, I think one of Elvis' best live covers is when he sang "Anyone Who Had A Heart" on the Painted From Memory tour. Absolutely fantastic.
