Elvis on Real Time with Bill Maher!

Post by migdd »

Just caught this! Was quite surprised as it was unannounced. Elvis followed Spike Lee and talked about turning 52, Allen Toussaint, Katrina, and the general failure and incompetance of the Bush administration. EC came off as being positive, hopeful and, of course, very kind and articulate.

Saw Bill Maher in concert back in May and never laughed so deeply as far back as I can remember. Bill professed, having just turned 50 himself, to being a huge EC fan. Elvis practically blushed and could almost be heard saying "aw, shucks". A pretty cool little moment.

Yeah, Hitchens was constantly insulting and flipping the audience and generally being pretty damned ingnorant!

Hitchens is a miserable, egomaniacal turd.

I liked when Bill asked Elvis "how he has done it?" and went on to point out that Elvis has never made any huge mistakes or had any scandals surrounding him, and Elvis just kind of looked at him like, "oh....he doesn't know about that one time".

Great appearance. Didn't know about it until Bill made mention of it himself on the show!

Yes, our Dec had a 'dodged the bullet' moment there. Thankfully the audio of that press conference is not in wide circulation, long may it stay so.
Shitdisturber and all he may be, Hitchens was pretty bang on to say Elvis sounded Irish. Elvis was using the grand south Dublin cultured accent he acquired in his Stepaside years to great effect, he wouldn't have sounded out of place in the lobby of the Abbey.
