Newbie
Just thought I'd introduce myself - Poor Deportee, longstanding EC fan (first got into him as an undergraduate listening to 'Spike'). Loving Elvis's music has proven a somewhat lonely experience, though - he's an eccentric choice these days, I fear - so this is a welcome space.
Pleased to be here.

Gee, I posted this reply earlier but it seems to have evaporated - now there's an ill omen
Thanks for the kind welcome, all. The first time I saw EC live was in Montreal for the 'Brutal Youth' tour. I saw him doing the 'Lonely World' tour - BEST T-SHIRT EVER!!!- again in Montreal, a few years later. And then in Ottawa after WIWC, and Vancouver in the wake of 'North.'
The definitive performance, for me, was 'Lonely World.' Towering vocals, incredible energy and presence, lots of engagement with the audience, the whole bit. It practically converted my missus, who is (alas) not a fan but who I keep dragging to these shows.
My favourite album is 'Spike,' partly for sentimental reasons (la scène de la seduction), partly because what others criticize as a vice - i.e., its mad-scientist eclecticism - I see as a glorious profusion of demented genius. Witness 'Chewing Gum.' Plus, 'Tramp the Dirt Down' is as great a protest song as has ever been penned.
Eccentric? Moi? Nah...but in today's arid pop wastelands, with EC long removed from the hit parade, to be a fan of Elvis is eccentric by definition.
OK, now I'll button my lip and follow the threads.
