I'm changing job, in the middle of working a 21 day stretch and my apartment is missing some ceiling. I'm bouncng around the recording idea with my friend fjp, who I need if my recording don't sound "shit" (fjp's word, not mine, obviously). It'll be the end of July when it's done (hopefully). Now I'm thinking I should do Pidgin English. I really can't get anything together right now. We are a band, by the way, albeit mostly in theory than practice...

Sorry that I didn't get back to you sooner that this...

It's a great concept, and one that I though about earlier; unfortunately, there are many on this board who (after the Island board) prefer not to release too much info...photos of friends & family can sometimes be a little too personal, and I want a fair representation of EVERY member of this board.

I thought about using avatars, too, but they wouldn't really have much meaning for anyone who ISN'T a member (including E.C. hisself, which is why Blue Chair planned this compilation from the get-go).

So, you can have your REAL name used in the credits, or just your handle ("Sweet Pear"), it entirely up to you.

On a more personal note...don't go running off into oblivion, girl. The thing I tend to like about this board (my FIRST, and probably LAST & ONLY message board) is that we all speak from the heart/gut, & it's a very good place to dump/vent.

People like myself, rope, and a host of others, will NEVER have to worry about high blood pressure or anxiety attacks, because we SPEW and flush all of the crap out of our systems.

A "BB" thread would be social suicide here, however.

Is it too late for me to do a country and western version of Pump It Up? If I start drinking now, I can have it done by August...

Now, where did I put that damned accordion?

I was resently filled in on the goings on at the Island board......so yeah, Sulky, I definately see why the personal stuff is out. I just thought (with everyone's permission) that a collage of unidentified pictures of the contributors to the project would be relatively harmless while getting the "point" across to the recipient.
I know...bad idea.

There's one giant thing I don't understand about making this record......could someone explain how you put together all this stuff ( the packaging and artwork I understand) when everyone is spead out all over the world? Someone says I'll do this on this song and you can do that....how will it all be in sync? (I hate that group)
Is it just a matter of one person receiving all the parts and mixing it?
I'm not angry anymore....

Basically, the people recording the individual tracks wil then e-mail them (most likely, in mp3 format) to Blue Chair, who will put the tracks in order & burn them to CD ROM (Now, don't quote me on this, 'cuz BC may be doing this differently from how I'm relaying). I can either send the jpeg images to Blue, or, I can actually do the printing of the packaging & mail it to Blue, who will then add the CD to the packaging and---voila!! A professional looking/sounding CD package!

How we're getting a copy of this to EC is beyond my parameters to explain...

C'mon Blue, you can chime in here any time...

Okay...

At some point tomorrow (am? pm? Not sure...) wil be uploading the "Dedication Page" of the CD insert. I welcome anyone & everyone to submit a concise (smart but short) essay, in the format of your choice, to either my PM or E-mail address.

C'mon, ya'all!!

A "dedication" to EC, a text message of some sort about the board, it's members, etc. I already have one submission from our good friend, norman brain, & his is in the format of "A Letter to Elvis Costello" from "The Members of elviscostellofans.com". But I'd like different ideas, in different formats, and may even decide to use bits & pieces of various submissions edited in a "whole".

By the way, the graphics for the "Dedication Page" have been posted at:

Comments, boys & girls??

I got the same message when I clicked, and I also found out I was the 10,000,000 visitor, and they tried to give me a "free" vacation. When I refused, spam boxes started opening up all over, until Explorer had an error. Fun

The internet was supposed to be about a free exchange of information. Ask any nerd from the nineties. Now it's all about hawking.

Except here.

Nah, I need a project like this now & then to re-aquaint me with some of the software I've been trained in...

God knows I never get to use them at work...

But that "fade" for the background photo on the dedication page is beginning to piss me off...

Finally got it working in my photo editor last night, & viewed on-line from my home system, it looks great.

However, viewing on a larger monitor at work is revealing the flaws I thought I took care of.

Will work on it again tonight.

Thanks, everybody...and yeah, Otis, I try to play with Photo Shop at every opportunity...

So much you can do with the program, that, if your skills get rusty, it takes a while to remember how to make things work.

And a lot of the links to these photos were provided by board members.

This WILL be a 4-page booklet, these 2 will be back-to-back, with a 2-page spread inside containing photo credits, etc.

I'm thinking that I'll list all the member names on the actually CD label itself, but that may change as the process continues...

You WILL all be listed on this project, one way or the other.
