We buy Elvis's music for the quality - not because we approve or disaprove of his personal life. People fall out of love - marriages break up - shit happens.... its called life!

As long as hes not a child molester or something just as bad I will continue to be a major fan!!

Good point!

Post by IStandAccused »

**Good point, Gilli! Very good point indeed. That idiot from Phish comes to mind and you are right, EC has never engaged in such crimes. Only crimes of the heart and thats no sin. I still feel bad for Cait. She is such a nice woman. But so is Diana. I just hope he is happy and this relationship is something that last for his lifetime. Maybe even another child- that would be nice for him. And yep, I do know some of the parties involved but I have no desire for trouble. I stand accused of having an opinion. Oh well, I guess that makes me like the rest of you lot on here. I hardly doubt I am the only one here that has met or knows some of the above mentioned parties. No need to speculate when no harm has been done.**

Good to see Gillibeanz and myself share the "Shit Happens" philosophy. It can explain a lot in life.

I still like Pete Townshend.

Dr. J., I have to say that both you and Gilli are right! As for Mr. Townsend? There is no comparison in his situation as to the actions of the Phish bass player. I really don't think that Pete is in the same catagory. I was rooting for him because I believed him to the max. That Phish dingdong took a nine year old girl into a private area without the permission of her parents to take "art photos". Pete looked at some child porn on the computer to research what may have happened to him as a child. He didn't hurt anyone but himself. I also agree with you that it is fun to see Elvis acting like and looking like a rock star. For so long he was anti that. That was my point but I do like to see him admit that he is a rock star and address it accordingly. I hope he continues to do so.

You don't stand accused of having an opinion. You stand accused of name dropping. Don't do it. Everyone who has name dropped Bebe, Diana, or the Man have been creepy people who made other sites living hells. If you do know them, pretend you don't.

And...

Post by IStandAccused »

I see your point- I was around for all the other "uprisings" of yore but I don't recall mentioning anyone but Cait, EC, and Diana. Diana was not even around in the old board days, my chief! I think the only people that have gone in the "B" direction are you and the divine Gilli. I have not even uttered a peep about the old old days, eg. the 70's and 80's. But I certainly respect all concerned. I still feel the way I feel and I still haven't said anything that anyone else hasn't said too. I do believe as well that there may be one or two others on here that know said parties. That should not be considered named dropping if it is true. I stand by my saddness for poor Cait, my love of the new "rock star" Mr. Costello's music, and my "like" of Ms. Krall. Yea, I did get a bit heated around the collar but I am fine now. Not to worry, Mr. Noise. I have no beef with anyone, especially not you. I shall play dumb from now on if that is what you all wish. Elvis who???

Pookie, I think it's the way you name-drop that raises the red flags. You get exorcised about EC's personal life, and frankly, it's a little creepy.

it's heating up 'round here. c'mon kids, no one likes a flamewar.

let's all calm down and talk about something soothing and non-controversial, like how The Juliet Letters is a great album and how "Veronica" makes me want to poke out my eyes.
if we can rock together, why can't we walk together?

No harm done. I agree- Peace, flowers and puppies!! I only want Cait to be safe and happy. I know she reads this stuff. I wanted her to know that I care about her well being. End of the story! Sorry.

I have just read the last three or so posts of this thread, went straight to page 5. Looks like I've missed something interesting, but I dare not go back and read the rest, I get pulled in so easily. Why can't the kids on the Phantom Power board have tifts like this?

i like tokyo's suggestion

it really might be time to move on
everybody had their say and we really aren't progressing, are we?

i loved the juliet letters
the songs, in the main, had a lot of heart
i still like to listen to the 'rockers' but the emotional ones get to me more.
maybe it's the kids...
oh, i useta be disgusted
now i try to be amused

I never understood the desire of some people of the board to censur or tell people what they should think, who they know and what they should say.....it's a control/power issue, nothing more.

wow..that's two times people agreed with me in the last week! It must be the positive influence of my girlfriend. I must admit I'm a much happier guy now than I was before....my last girlfriend warped my mind and tried to kill me by pouring salt in every wound I ever had.....AND I think that Ecstasy was a good thing for me, it made me face the paronoia and hate that was dominating and enveloping my fragile eggshell mind.

i'm in! :D

but, gotta say, yesterday i actually cranked Veronica on the radio. my cool gadget that lets me play the cd thru the cassette player is hosed, and i was stuck on an hour drive w/ nothing but western Massachusetts radio. ICK.

so, at that point, Veronica was a godsend. well, okay, half the song, 'cause that's all i caught. don't know if i could have survived the whole thing.

nope, still hate it.

i just hate it less than certain other things, e.g. barenaked ladies. or whatever passes for top 40 radio these days.

(you don't have to tell me that some certain song of whoever is decent, i know that. it's just a general thing. top 40 turns my brain into soup.)
