Off subject (somewhat).

I have a real thing for Scottish bands. Don't know why. But some of my favorite albums are by Scots:

!. The Proclaimers - Sunshine on Leith
2. Del Amitri - self-titled debut
3. Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque

and there are several others. Is there something in the water?

Yeah, those are great bands... especially The Proclaimers, really really original. You forgot to mention...

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band...amazing rock sound, great entertainment, The Impossible Dream and Tommorrow belongs to me are both great .

Dick Gaughan... if you haven't heard of him, buy HANDFUL OF EARTH now! He's a folk singer who's a bit political, anti-thatcher, anti-media (sounds a bit like someone else)...great great man.

Wet Wet Wet... great voice on Marti Pellow, string of excellent hits (popped in souled out is their best album)...sweet little mystery, angel eyes, wishing i was lucky.

Travis...don't be shocked (or berate me), they are a bit poppy, but I think they've got a really good sound. The Man Who is a good album, a lot of people feel suicidal when they hear it though.

Mull Historical Society... bit of a new band, just one guy songwriting and playing all the instruments.. he's really talented, check out Loss.

You're right, I guess there must be something in the water...how many bands? from 5million people...gotta be a pretty small ratio of normal people to bands...you never know, you could be living next door to the next Elvis....

gotta go now, my mums performing a live rock set at the Barrowlands.

See, I dodn't know Trash Can Sinatras were Scottish, or they would have been on my list for certain. I love them.

Belle & Sebastian
Arab Strap
Looper

Maybe it's because they have such a melodic accent, they always sound like they're singing anyway. I have a rough time understanding it, but I could listen for hours.
