Elvis Costello Avery Fisher Hall July 17 Question ??????

Post by patkee »

Hi, I have tickets for Sat. night. Could anyone help me understand what kind of concert will be?

First, I thought it was going to be Costello's hit songs in symphony orchestra format. Now, I'm not sure if it will be all new Costello's orchestra work.

I will go either way but like to prepare ahead of time. :-)

Thank you.

They are going to perform his orchestral work. I'm not sure if he is conducting, although that may be interesting to watch. Elvis and Steve will also be performing some material, perhaps backed by the orchestra.

The ballet music will be the first "half" of the show, with the Brooklyn Philharmonic and a guest conductor. After intermission, orchestral arrangements of EC songs will be performed, maybe some of those done Tuesday night but probably more that weren't, since he will have had to rehearse a competely different set of musicians, except for Steve of course.

Saturday night's conductor will be Brad Lubman.
