Official Website My Ass...

Post by SoLikeCandy »

I went over there for a moment to see if they'd done anything with it since last year. Not a thang.

"There's no current US news for Elvis Costello," it says.

Never mind that he's touring the US and Canada. Never mind that he played the Taste of Chicago last week. Never mind that he has a new album coming out in just two months, or that he's getting married, or that one of his insane fans Photoshopped a picture to make him look like a lumberjack. Noooo, none of that junk is news--ohhhhh, noooo.

Stupid, stinky, message board closing, no current news having bastards....

Yes, "quite" indeed!!! "No Current Elvis Costello News" . . .in what alternate universe?!!

If I were to wager on the "official" website (admit it - in it's heyday it was a great advertising tool with a cool message board and some life-preserving input from Elvis), I would bet that about 4-6 weeks before the official release of NORTH, it will be updated with all kinds of cool news (but won't come close to touching John E's site) and graphics and probably be pretty fun for about 4 months. Maybe (but don't hold your breath!) they will even revive the old message board and have some input from Elvis (again, don't hold your breath!) Then it will drift away into purgatory. . .awaiting the release of. . .

..."South".

According to JohnE "elviscostello.com due to be updated with information on the new album and available from 2003-07-23." I wonder how he knows this. Maybe he asked.

At the back of each EC record it should say "Elvis Costello Will Return" like James Bond movies.

I reckon it may be because North isn't on Island, and the website belongs to Island.

Well, Boom, baby, I don't know if my ass could handle an official website...

I was thinking about what BlueChair said--sure, the album isn't on Island, but "elviscostello.com" was owned by Rhino a few years ago. Why not just switch owners of the domain for the new album? It makes no sense at all to me to not have a website. I mean, STING has an official website, for frick's sake, and his album is being released on the same day as EC's. I don't get it...

Island DefJam and Deutche Grammophone are actually both divisions of Universal Music. Two different labels, same parent company. No reason the "ooficial" website couldn't be updated, I would thiink.

I like "ooficial!" Kinda sounds like "gooficial", as in George W. Bush is our head "gooficial" in the government...
