Almost everyday:

"A change is better than a rest"
-from "Pidgin English"
"The smarter mysteries are hidden in the light" - Jean Giono (1895-1970)

Would you believe: a self-made mug is hard to break-- a silent partner in someone else's mistake.

That line has had huge meaning for me for over twenty years. My best friend had the first half of the couplet engraved on a pendant for me.

just about every day, probably.

Is there a point where artist obsession becomes simply evidence of a personality disorder? I think we will reach it with this thread...

The nearest I could ever get to this is by seeing names from lyrics here everyday, SMM above all others.

I do know what you mean about lines of things that float into your head as almost set responses or patterned behaviour. The only one I can thing of right now is from E M Forster's A Passage To India, and this may not even be verbatim, but when all that lovely Hindu celebration is taking place at the end and the universe is being accepted, the gorgeous words 'Everything exists, nothing has value' come into Godbole's (I think! I should be less lazy, but it's late) mind. I like to hear that in my head in moments of accepting the universe. Once every few months, probably. I've a long way to go...

"You Lack Lust... You're So Lacklustre" is an everyday line for me as well.

Mine is....Through a two way looking glass, you see your Alice

and Fear is here to stay, love is here for a visit.

As well as others...those are the ones I can think of right now.
It nearly took a mircacle to get you to stay
It only took my little finger to blow you away.

After the lipstick vogue debate, i've been singing the

" it's yoooo-oo-oouuuuuuuuuu not just another mouth... "

around every 5 seconds.

See, I'm learning.

Well, "I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused" is a bit of personal motto.

"You say I've got no feelings, this is a good way to kill them" resonates.

"Jesus wept, he felt abandoned" (one nice Jewish boy to another)

"Where are the strong? Who are the trusted?"

Watch Your Step

Post by jillbeast »

I heard "Watch Your Step" every day on the cruise ship because of the signs posted outside the doorways! :-) I see lots of songs as I go through the day. When I'm at work charging people's credit cards I get "Attach me to your credit card and then you can undress me" stuck in my head!

My line that goes through my head changes from time to time. The most recent one that is just kind of stuck in the gray matter is:

Look at the graceful way she dances
On foot speaks, the other answers

Another one that has been going through my mind lately is:

One day they'll probably make a movie out of all of this
There won't even have to be a murder just a slow dissolving kiss

"If I'm lost or I'm forgiven the birds will still be singing"--it's true too.

"Don't say you love me when you know you don't mean it, don't say a word if there is any doubt."

"You're a tourist at best."
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."

Such an interesting question. I just love reading everyone's answers.

Bits of Elvis songs run through my head all the time but they change a lot too depending on what 's going on on any given day. Sometimes I'll just relentlessly play the same EC disc and have a certain line stuck in my brain. (So I'm not the only obsessive Elvis nut doing this? Thank goodness!) I've got

Say goodbye
Baby can't you act your age?
You know why
I'm going to give it to you straight
I know I'll never be
unhappy as you want me to be~.
still it's all the rage.

fom All The Rage on the brain. God, I love that song.
I'm not angry anymore....

"All grown up, and you don't care anymore. And you hate all the people that you used to adore. And you despise all the rumors and lies of the life you led before."

"Still this house is empty now, there's nothing I can do to make you want to stay. So tell me how am I supposed to live without you?"

"I can't lie on this bed anymore it burns my skin. You can take the truthful things you've said to me, and put them on the head of a pin."

I have a lot, but these are the most that run through my head.
I wish that I could push a button
And talk in the past and not the present tense
And watch this hurtin' feeling disappear
Like it was common sense
It was a fine idea at the time
Now it's a brilliant mistake
