Diana sings Elvis

Post by ReadyToHearTheWorst »

Anyone see that review of a recent Diana Krall gig (San Francisco I believe)?

Apparently, she sang Almost Blue (would love to hear that!), plus Everyone's Crying Mercy and a couple of other 'bluesy' songs that I associate with EC.

There was also a suggestion that they've written a song together.

She's going into the studio soon, so we may get to hear some of this.

I remember when Elvis got so upset at Linda Rondstat (someone help me with the spelling) covering Alison. Definately mellowed.

OH, THAT reminds me!

I was watching Live In Paris with jody's stepmom, and Diana was singing this song, and there was an OBVIOUS allusion to ALmost Blue...like she obviously altered the melody of a line to sound exactly like a line from Almost Blue!! Jazz singers are cool.

I forgot what line she was singing and what reference to Almost BLue it was, but ah well right?

And that concert was quite a while ago wasn't it?!??? hmm...I think something gossipworthy was going on between those two...

As he admitted himself, he still is (but so are we all)!

"A J. LO TREND: Seems Diana Krall has taken a cue from Lopez. The singer is sporting a gigantic pink sparkler, courtesy of her fiance, Elvis Costello. No word on the number of carats--but those who have seen it say it's visible even from quite a distance."

I love Diana- Elvis is a lucky man. She probably does the best version of the song yet. Good luck to them both.

Ms. Krall did a new song by Elvis at some of
her recent gigs , besides covering Almost Blue. Either
or both may turn up on this album.

Diana's new CD coming 11/4/03!

In order to work out material for her new CD, Diana
has performed several special sneak preview shows at
Yoshi's jazz club in San Francisco. The shows were a
great success and each audience gave a standing
ovation. Diana has already started recording and
though it is impossible to know what will be on the
record look for a slightly new direction with some
tunes by contemporary pop and blues writers. Diana's
new CD is scheduled for release on November 4, 2003.

Diana Krall is also doing her recording in San Francisco, according to this story:

And it was her dad's fault that news of their engagement got leaked:

I remember seeing that article about how Diana's dad broke the news prematurely. Not that the whole wouldn't have found out eventually, but it just wasn't done according to some plan. I thought it was funny. :)
