Hi all - does anyone know what Elton said as he 'inducted' (terrible word) Elvis into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame? Just curious as I can't imagine what on earth he'd say - seems like an unlikely choice of inducter!

It was the one thing I have I managed to remember to get my VCR ready for, so I can go back and watch it to get everything exactly.

Off the top of my head, I do remember him having high praise for him, going back and talking about his first album and the songs from it. Seems like he even made a comment about how he hadn't "sold out" which was unlike what he had done. He talked about how Elvis got his stage name, and some other things. It really wasn't a bad introduction, but as usual Elton was giddy like a girl and a tad off color, but I like Elton and thought he expressed much admiration for Elvis on his special night.

I'd honestly have to go back and watch it again to refresh my aging memory. I was a bit starstruck that night just watching him on tv, and I had a few drinks to boot, so I just can't remember any more!!!!!!

Thanks Spooky. The show didn't seem to pop up on British telly, so I missed it. Wonder if Elton has sung any Elvis songs in the past? Can't imagine his voice with any Elvis stuff.

I seem to recall Elton going on about Elvis scoring the soundtracks to gay porn films. I'm not kidding (although I believe Elton was.)

it would explain the tiff between Elvis and Bruce, though, eh?

i'm sorry, i read too much slash, and therefore interpret everything is gay. it's been ingrained in my psyche. nnnnnner.

It was shown on VH1 U.K, Danny, but I managed to miss the whole of John's speech. In fact I missed everything Elvis had to say, and Steve, and Pete, and umm..Bruce. The last song they played is all I saw.
