Has anyone heard about this? Misha?

I received an e-mail from Ticketmaster regarding this show. Tickets on sale Sun Jan 25 @ 10:00 a.m. The ad reads "American Express Presents Elvis Costello, Blue Jam Sessions".

If I can get the tickets, I will be there. Sounds as if Elvis is flexing his philanthropic muscle here, probabaly associated with his UCLA guest faculty position (or whatever the official title is...?).

Seeking advice.

When tickets go on sales for a show like this one, at a smaller venue, and they are availbale both via the Ticketmaster website and the box-office...

1. Is there a secret to gaining access to the better seats via the website, other than the obvious one of ordering them early..., and;
2. Does the venue box office typically hold the better seats for direct purchase?

I suspect that this event will sell quickly. Seeking any advantage I can.

Actually, the cool thing about this is that -- at least the last time I was there -- the HOB is a general admission, mostly standing room type of venue, so one ticket is just as good as another.

I don't know what to do!!
Do I get off work, fly in then fly home that night?
I have Bowie tickets in Phoenix the day after.
I don't need to see every show possible...or do I?
Elvis is killing my goals of getting out of debt by the end of the year.

ECLover,

I think you and I are on to something. I think he is trying to destroy us by having lots of concerts. Elvis has started some sort of "destroy my more obsessive fans by damaging their credit balance" phase. He's on to us. Bastard....I'm going to forward my credit card bills to him directly....
Anyone know if he has stock in Citibank? American Express?

I don't know how to talk you out of this, since it is EC & TI. It should rock, as in ROCK!!

But you are going to see Bowie.....

I'm no good at talking you out of this.

Ok, just talked to Bobster and he is offering to go down to the HOB and pick up the tickets to save us all unGodly big huge conglomerate bastard fees. He has promised to go the extra mile and offer himself as some sort of sacrifice, if need be......but all bets are off if his car breaks down.....but, he doesn't live far at all......( to Bobster)

Pm me if you are interested, as I am now in the position of Assistant to Bobster.....

I sense a party coming on...... :D :D :D    :D :D :D :D :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Just talked to Kat at the HOB, here's the scoop....they go on sale both at TM and HOB Sunday at 10am.

At the HOB at least, they can only be purchased with some sort of AMEX payment. Amex card, Optima, Blue or trav checks....NOTHING ELSE!!!

I don't know about TM.......

I have a call in to Bobster to see if this will work......

Oh, it is $ 54.00 at the window, but will be more on TM due to crazy fees being added.

Well then I suppose I'm screwed. I destroyed my Amex cards and closed all accounts after a number of bad business dealings with them.

For an event that is designed to provide support for childrens education to REQUIRE that only a certain creditors product will be recognized is obscene.

I am relegated to sending an American Express Cardholder cash. Anyone willing to Trust?

It's killing me to say this, but I don't think I can go to this one.
I just checked out the cost of a flight for basically an overnight stay, and it would be almost $200 to get there.
If I thought I could get the time off of work and just sort of make a short trip out of it, I would maybe consider it. My sister lives out there, so I would have a place to stay etc.
I think I'm just gonna have to sit here, extremely jealous and wait to hear the details from you guys.
But, damn it's gonna be a good time.

I'm worried about Dashboard Confessional being on the bill. He/they seem to have a very fanatical fan base will probably greatly increase the demand for tickets. Fortunately, many of them are rather young and this is a 21 and over show.

Here`s a link for the American Express card sales -

http://www.americanexpress.digisle.tv/b ... plore.html

You lucky dogs in LA have no idea how tasty this gig sounds to us poor , deprived souls in Europe . I was lucky enough to see Elvis and co. rocking out in Virginia last July ; any who hasn`t travelled hasn`t seen them since September 2002. However the above link also mentions something about webcasts so maybe some kind of TV presentation will appear eventually.
