Whoa! This is indeed a man in love :o , especially the song Let Me Tell You About Her.

Holy shit. Well, he says the music's like it's 12 feet away, but the lyrics are about as direct and close as I've ever heard him... totally naked, for him.

What a story.

"...Up where the polar bears and moose and geese will play
And some of them address you en français
Give me the ice and snow
Time to go...
North..." ~ North.

It seems he was thinking about Canada. Whether he'd want to live there or not, who knows?

 I've already quoted my very favourite lines from North... let's see you quote yours.

I like:

All the sorrows and the joys like magnetism
And a selfish boy looks through a prism
And says what is
But never asks what isn't

I love the lyrics to every song. They certainly work as poetry. I can't wait to hear them as songs!

KOC, I'm interested in the internet track as well. I wonder if he'll post it on on the Island site (if they ever decide to resurrect it).

Time will tell.

there's so many good lyrics, it's hard to choose, but I picked this one:

But if this is how I lose my heart
Then I shall just embrace that
My pulse is racing still
I'm secretly thrilled
By the laughter that tumbled
And the tears that I spilled
As far as I know no one ever got killed
By impatience

Impatience
Like me, the "g" is silent.

After a very quick read, here's one I like a lot, from 'Can You Be True?':

'Only time will tell us
I hope that it speaks gently if it isn't meant to be
Then again
By then we might not be listening so attentively'

Also, from the same song:

'I long to hear you whisper my name'

I cannot describe what that line does to me.

All this seems very personal, I feel like I should avert my eyes and mind my own business....
It's a radiation vibe I'm groovin' on

G2S, I totally agree... makes me kinda worried and sad and happy for him all at the same time.

This album sounds wicked cool. I can't wait!
It nearly took a mircacle to get you to stay
It only took my little finger to blow you away.

~~Don't worry, SMM- he has done this before, HA! He is filled with passion and mid-life. Could be wonderful- could be a disaster. All in the cards and in his fate as a man. I think it wise for us all to remember our own experiences in these matters of the heart. He is really "out there" with this relationship. Not only wearing his heart on his sleeve but going out, being widely photographed- almost flaunting it. You also can't feel guilty for seeing into his private life. He is inviting you. He wants you to. These are the first lyrics that are not really written in usual EC "code" and limerick. He HAD to get them out of him. Like a painter that all of a sudden needs to paint five paintings a day. A rush of inspiration. It can't be held down.

I can't believe you're all looking at the lyrics to an LP that won't be out for 3 months. Stop it now, and erase them from your memories, lyrics are meant to be heard, not read.

I KNOW, it's amazing, isn't it??? I'm glad of it (and can't wait to hear them all of a piece, of course) but it's a bit like he walked into the party without his glasses. I barely recognize him, he looks so vulnerable!

Should be good stuff.

By the time I finished reading all your comments about the lyrics, MY heart
was racing!
After a quick read, these lyrics stood out to me. But there's no question about it, they must be heard w/the music.

All the words you say to me
Have music in them
All the sorrows and the joys like magnetism
And a selfish boy looks through a prism
And says what is
But never asks what isn't

You both said it so well.....

Wow, I don't think I've read lyrics that flow so coherently from song to song like these do. He really is in love. Ahhhh...

"Every single time I approached despair
I thought of your name and you were there
I won't burden you
As promises will do
But I know I will be there
When green eyes turn blue"
