No. 25 - Red Cotton

“The Lord will judge us, with fire and thunder
As man continues with all his blunders
It's only money
It's only numbers
Maybe it is time to put aside these fictitious wonders
Man is feeble
Man is puny
And if it should divide the Union
There is no man who should own another
When he can't even recognize his sister and his brother”

From “Secret, Profane & Sugarcane”
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

Much as I'm enjoying this project, and without wanting to sound churlish, the line 'several that will be issued here for the first time' hasn't really landed yet. We're exactly halfway through now, and we've had precisely one song 'issued here for the first time', and that was issued pretty much simultaneously as a single anyway. I'm beginning to think as others have suggested) that the 'several that will be issued here for the first time' will; simply be 'Hey Clockface' tracks released a few days ahead of the LP.

Elvis has a habit of surprising us!
It’s such a shame you had to break the heart you could have counted on

Always liked this one. Unfortunately here in the US, The River In Reverse is no longer on Spotify. So guess it'll be 49 songs in 50 days.

48, because we've already had the title track? :(

The River In Reverse is on Pomp and Pout (as is Ascension Day), and that collection is available.

Licensing...

Blimey it's a complicated do, innit? Did P+P ever get a physical/CD release in the end, or is it just digital?

Surely it's more appropriate for the lines in "This Is Hell"!!

Good catch, Tripwire's a near-certainty. There's a great version out there somewhere by a kids' choir.

Brilliantly imagined, I can hear it now with gentle tinkly piano or a harp !
Alternately we could all rehearse and perform it as a choir at the next London Fan Forum with Sheep as double bass, Goon Squad as boomy baritone, VG as a tremulous tenor, me holding it all together with the melody and Neil on dog - scaring high falsetto!
