Amoeba Records - What's In My Bag

Post by ice nine »

It's interesting finding out what others are listening to. Bob Odenkirk is a fan of EC.

I've never seen the show, but we Americans have a tough time with accents. When I went to Scotland I needed translation help from my wife who was surrounded by Scottish relatives while growing up.

I'm on season 4 of Better Call Saul right now and Bob Odenkirk is absolutely brilliant. I loved his performance in Breaking Bad, but this is even better.

As someone from the far south west of England, i can vouch for funny accents !!
My maternal grandmother was from a long lime of farmers and she was almost completely unintelligible to outsiders.
I wish I'd been given £5 every time someone mocked my accent ( and some say I've only got the most lovely Devonshire lilt whilst others would go "OOOH AAAAAR every time they met me until it became more than a little tedious) because my fortune would now be assured.
Worst of all my son was born in Birmingham and now occasionally lapses from Brum to yokel

It's far more your language than mine.
Earlier, anyway.

I trust that you are aware that I was goofin'.

My father told me that US hillbilly accents are closer to the English isle accents than his "native" Californian. Not surfer or valley girl. Don't know what I'm trying to say here except that there are hundreds of accents in this country and the same appears to be in England. I've had a hard time understanding south side Virginia accents and Bostonian accents.
Kinda strayed from amoeba records in this thread.

the BBC is running a painting programme with Bob Ross and his accent is gorgeous - if he started reading to us, we'd soon fall asleep!
I have no idea what region he comes from but it's lovely to listen to.
Sorry to divert from the original thread though!

He was from Florida but had no southern US accent. Do you mean accent or his mellow tone? More diversion.
