Bruce Thomas co-presenting radio show tomorrow, April 20 2019
Re: Bruce Thomas co-presenting radio show tomorrow, April 20 2019
Ian & Bruce play favourites and chat . A pleasant hour or two of radio . The only content specifically related to Elvis is at about 50 minutes into hour one, Bruce talking about occasionally bumping Pete Thomas in the town in England where Pete's mother in law lives. He quotes a joke that Pete supposedly made about something - you'd have to listen to the whole sequence to put it in its proper context.
Ian's selection alternates with Bruce's. Ian's are , as Bruce says later in the programme , 'new stuff ', unlike his , which Bruce describes as 'old chestnuts'. Earlier Bruce says most of his selection are from a 'feel good' selection that he used to play a lot when he travelled around America in the mid 90s. Most of the songs he selects have 'minimalist guitar parts , not shredding'. Later he says, just before the Pete comments, he also listened to them when rehearsing before rejoining the Attractions 'for what became two albums and three years touring before I got fired again'.
Bruce plays a Larkin Poe song , no mention of Elvis

And a shout out to Larkin Poe.

The Larkin Poe gesture suggests he either notes Elvis' choice of support or has been secretly following the Detour gigs - though I didn't see him at any I attended -unless he was incognito. Still nice to see Man Utd have restored themselves to their early season form just for him
