The 40 year anniversary celebration has got me reviewing some of the excellent ABC News 20/20 video footage, including this clip:

During the intro to Radio, Radio, at 0:25, he says "They thought they were gonna stop us. [????] was gonna stop us." Followed by onstage laughter and a Pete Thomas drum fill.
What did he say?

Yeah, must have been an "IN" joke at the time. I think i am correct. I became quite fluent in his mumbo jumbo jibberish way of speaking in his liquor/etc. addled days.

well, it was funny cause he was in the middle of saying the first part of it, and this guy yells incoherently in the audience, so Elvis acknowledged him.

The supect the humor may have been largely visual. The footage doesn't capture said guy, but he may have been notably goofy-looking/acting.
