After buying tickets like a loon and about to work for over 13 hours due to staff shortages in pathology , this is the most exciting news I’ve heard for ages and, like Jardine, I need to breathe slowly and come down gently. Thanks for this update BA , enjoy your shows too !!

There were also two parking spaces reserved for "Rocket Fuel Records," which might be for an unrelated session.

ANCT...Is that near your home? Did you take these pics yourself? As a guy who never made it to L.A. on my two Cali visits...CAN IT REALLY BE THAT EC AND STEVE DRIVE THEMSELVES TO THE STUDIO??? It is just so unlike NYC and what they do here. I have seen them dropped off loads of times and have even seen each apparently walking from several city blocks away here in the Apple...BUT NEVER BEHIND THE WHEEL. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yes, I took the pics. It was very convenient, since Village Studios was literally two blocks out of the way I was already headed!

I saw EC get behind the wheel and drive away with Cait and Steve as passengers after a soundcheck at the Wiltern in 1999.

Interesting that they're still working on this when they were supposed to be in Vegas starting Wednesday. Did the cancellation lead to the session, or vice versa, or neither?

Neil. - unfortunately I have pictured you singing this :lol:

To more important matters, at last - a proper non-project album! :D

It’ll be interesting to see which of the songs are not ones we have assumed to be for Face in the Crowd.

This led me to the Wiki, of course and the Category: Unreleased Songs.

I think there are four categories of song that might appear and then some other "one-offs" that together might make it onto an album.

The four categories, I would suggest, are:
  • * Songs intended for A Face In The Crowd;
    * Songs written with Burt Bacharach for the musical version of Painted From Memory (PFM);
    * Songs "co-written" with Bob Dylan for The New Basement Tapes (TNBT) project, but not included on the Lost On The River album release in 2014;
    * Songs written for "The Secret Songs" project circa 2005.
Looking at each in turn, I think it unlikely that any songs from AFITC will appear, as they would not work well out of context and would preempt the musical itself. New EC/BB songs might stand better on their own, but are maybe not best suited to an Imposters treatment. On the other hand, if EC has Briana Lee and Kitten Kuroi involved, there will be songs with backing vocals, so maybe some of the songs from PFM+ will be included. I think the involvement of T-Bone in the recordings for me points to some of the Dylan/Costello songs appearing, given that there is no sign of any more songs from the original TNBT sessions being released. Some of these might also feature Briana and KItten. I would be surprised if anything more from "The Secret Songs" surfaced, but don't rule it out.

So, maybe expect to hear studio recordings of some of these soon:
  • * Adieu Paris (L'Envie Des Etoiles) **
    * Diamond Ring (TNBT+)
    * Down On The Bottom (TNBT+)
    * Go Tell (Your Quiet Sister)
    * He's Given Me Things ( PFM+)
    * I Can't Say Her Name
    * I Let The Sun Go Down
    * I'll Make The World Pay (EC + BB)
    * Isabelle In Tears
    * Lighthouse Woman (TNBT+)
    * Matthew Met Mary (TNBT+)
    * Santa Cruz (TNBT+)
    * The Last Year Of My Youth
    * They're Not Laughing At Me Now
    * This Uneasy Hour
    * Under Lime
    * What Is It That I Need That I Don't Already Have?

** This looks a cert to me, given all the stars EC has been tweeting and the Sheriff's star he has been wearing.

Exciting, isn't it?

I would add:
Stripping Paper
We’ll Make A Man Out Of You

Also possible are these songs written for other artists:
Forbidden Nights
Twist Of Barbwire
Moon Is High

He could include (a version of) You Shouldn’t Look At Me That Way.

Don't let's get carried away; now John and I have planned a trip to Roche in Cornwall to search for the missing MAIT Attractions version and hunt out the infamous Davidstowe wedding venue, we mustn't forget that it's 40 years (and a bit) on from MAIT I'm guessing that it's either an Imposters version of that or of TYM complete with a bonus CD of the El Mocambo show from 7th of March 1978 ! :wink:

Had an amazing time laying down vocals and collaborating with Davey Faragher and Briana Lee with Sebastian Krys engineering for some of Elvis' new tunes. Super excited to hear the finished songs, but first.... New York for some Imposter shows!! #elviscostelloandtheimposters #elviscostello
