Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

I'll be away so won't make this show.
Hopefully the sound will be better than when Elvis did a solo show at the venue in 2014 .
At the time I commented -
'As you can see I was right up front , third row. That , alas, meant I was subject to the evening's one big minus - terrible sound. Well, for the first six rows or so - the bloke next to me came back from the Gents and said it was magical how much better the sound got as he walked up the aisle. For most of the show all I was hearing was the echo of the speakers from the back of the hall. The quieter numbers weren't too bad. A truly magical off- mic performance of Alison at the edge of the stage somewhat compensated for the rest of the evening.'

c.37 minutes - specifics of new album.
Re: Elvis and The Imposters, Dublin (Ireland), June 23, 2018
Basically a reprise of the comments he made in the only other recent interview , the Associated Press one. A picture of what the Imposters sound like , how good a singer Davey is, how some songs feature Davey's brother Tommy , Kitten & Brianna on it, doing the the Imperial Bedroom shows helped formulate the sound, doing that film song made him realise that new recordings are possible etc. A few new songs may feature in the shows over the next few weeks.

The 15 best rock and pop concerts in Ireland this week
Saturday, June 23rd
Elvis Costello & The Imposters
Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin; 8pm; €66.45;
The ticket price is ever so slightly more than the man’s age, but for every euro per year, Elvis Costello will give as much value. The UK-born songwriter cares little for people twittering on about how “old” he is (he turns 64 in August), but there has been a noticeable change recently in that he hasn’t released an album in over five years (since 2013’s Wise up Ghost, with The Roots). Focusing less on the vagaries of securing a record deal and more on live work (although a stage musical is in the works), there is no let up in how dynamic the man can be in a live setting. With a virtually peerless 40-year-plus back catalogue to pull songs from (and a Dylanesque propensity to readjust them), expect a wiry, taut humdinger of a show.

It's frustrating to see, here on holiday in Finland , reactions to the show on social media. Lots of love , lots of hate.A certain reaction to Elvis's voice is a regular feature of people I've grown up with in Dublin. They say they just don't like it , it's out of tune etc.. I've heard it all my life. Needless to say I don't agree. It also occasionally extends to another feature of music fandom that seems peculiar to fans in Ireland. They will presume I'm going to be hostile to their opinion (I'm not , I accept their right to have same) and get annoyed when I don't revise my own. There is also a type of music 'fan' who feel the need to define themselves by how much they dislike a particular act. It is particularly prevalent in reaction to Bono & co.. You don't like something ? Fine- move on and find something you like & praise that.

@ElvisCostello and the Imposters in the BGE Theatre tonight were as brilliant and intense as I have come to expect. Seventh time I've seen Costello and he produces something different and wonderful each time and his energy for a 63 year old is phenomenal. Magic!

Went to see Elvis Costello tonight. Word of advice for anyone who hasn’t seen him: don’t bother. He can’t sing anymore. So bad that we left before the end. Never been so gutted leaving a gig in my life!

I wonder why people don't rant about Dylan the same way - after all, he's been barely able to carry a tune in a basket since the late 90s but everyone loves to go and see him. It must be something about Elvis that the average Joe feels he can now have a go at - if only Jake were here to defend him !!

Great review and it looks like there were some great songs played which couldn’t have been expected - There won’t be anymore and His Latest Flame for example

It’s a Charlie Rich song. I’ve never see him do it.
