New Elvis opera?

Post by Neil. »

Having read this article...

https://www.billboard.com/articles/news ... -interview

...it seems a shame that the Painted from Memory musical isn't happening because it's felt that there are too many slow, sad songs in it for a Broadway show.

So I'm thinking Elvis should re-pitch it to opera producers. Opera fans tend to have more tolerance for slow songs - and lots of the songs from the original album already have money notes in them that are very operatic.

Burt's orchestrations could remain.

I reckon some New York or London opera company would snap it up!

Great idea, Neil.
Elvis should turn this in a pop-opera!
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

At this point, he could get the show into a major opera house's 2019 opera season, I reckon. It'd be a surprising but adventurous addition to their repertoire. Also apt for as a late career blast from Burt. It's an autumn/winter piece, really - but the sooner better, far as I'm concerned!
