So is Hits and Headlines, Waif and Strays just another way of saying "Detour"?

Same set up, different name!

Agree with VG wholeheartedly - one new song here but nothing out of the same old Detour repertoire :(

You expected him to cook up a brand new act for a one-off charity gig?

Not a brand new act but maybe some of the songs he'd resurrected for the IB and Other Chambers tour or even some of the Face In The Crowd songs done with Larkin Poe ? Didn't seem like too much to ask for a little variation from the Detour gigs that have been running for two + years!

Probably would have changed it up if it was ongoing. But after nearly three months without a show, what can we expect but him playing it a touch safe? He always varies it when it is night after night. And last night was actually three songs played that I NEVER saw.

Well, Larkin Poe weren't available, so it would have been difficult to do anything with them. But he did two songs from AFitC songs, the two he did on the IB and Other Chambers tour. He also did "Toledo", which wasn't on the IB+OC tour, but should have been. Then there was "God's Comic", for once not continually interrupted by stories and jokes (perhaps EC has finally realized this is one of his truly great songs, when he doesn't ruin it!). If you're the baseball-card-collector type, there was "Mr Feathers" (14th performance ever) and "Mexican Divorce" (7th).

Honestly, Sulky, I think you're living up to your name. ;)

Personally, in a way - yes I did, although it would not have to be a new "act" as such. The show build up and title made it look like it would be a one-off show but to me the show didn't seem anything different to any other show. You come to expect new songs and different songs every night - it comes with the Elvis fandom territory.

Elvis could have ditched the whole backdrop and played a much more varied set to recent shows than he did. It looks like a good setlist but I would have expected something different.

The familiarity of the Detour shows of a few years standing was the reason I consciously decided to not go to the very few Elvis UK shows this year. It's the first time I've missed an Elvis UK tour for as long as I can remember.

And I would never expect Elvis to play it safe ba!

I'm not saying EC monitors any of the fan forums dedicated to him, but I will point out that last night was the first time in a very long time (er... so I heard) that EC did NOT introduce "Accidents" with some version of the Arizona taxi driver story recently discussed here:

http://www.elviscostellofans.com/phpBB3 ... =2&t=10747

Not only that, but about a week ago, another forum had a just-for-fun "contest" between "Alison" and "Veronica", where people voted for their favorite and said why. Perhaps not a fair fight, and indeed "Alison" won on points. But "Veronica" went the distance and much love was expressed for it, including the wish that it be played live more often. Last night, he followed "Alison" with "Veronica".

Put it down to envy about the lack of IB shows over here - I still agree with VG though .
Perhaps it's just middle age angst!

I'm not sure what you're quoting, but there is an audience recording.
