Tribute acts doing Elvis Costello shows.

Post by johnfoyle »

While a music snob like me would bemoan a collection of musicians wasting their talents by concentrating on recreating the work of an established act, I accept they are popular and , if done well, can approximate routines that some of us old farts were lucky enough to see first time around.

Shows of this nature are being devoted to Elvis so this thread will be kept near the top of this forum , just to give them a bit of emphasis.

First up , a show in New York on Sept 22nd.

never one to disagree with you King, yet, the exact OPPOSITE should be employed here. DON'T RELEGATE IT TO A PLACE OF IMPORTANCE AT THE TOP! post it, and watch it sink to the depths where it belongs. i, too, dislike cover acts especially when we have the real deal to behold.

Think I'm with BA here, let it fall, out of favour and interest ! I'm doubting this will garner much interest - so why am I reading this - only too see what the mighty BA has to say !!

I got a nice email asking me to this , simple as that. The writer seems to think there might be interest from some us . As my reservation shows, I think it's the kind of enterprise that few of us are interested in! This forum is , however , prominent enough in search engines so if it'll help direct someone towards a form of Elvis that may lead to the real thing , there's little harm in it!

Of course no real harm at all John. HOWEVER, we don't even "stickie (sp?)" something as dramatically appealing as FIRST USA IMPOSTERS TOUR IN FIVE YEARS thread!

Righto. Maybe I'll compromise by only 'stickie ' ing it around the time of such a show.

Agree with you, BA. The poster is classic. I'll see if I can grab one for you. I'm around that part of town often, so it's possible I might be able to get one or two. If I do snag one, I will PM. Later!

I went to this show and it was so much fun. They dedicated the second set to EC and the cast of SF musicians was excellent. A great tribute! I spoke to the organizer and he said they will do it next year, too. It was a good crowd showing as well.

BA - I bought a poster for you. PM me your address.

Later - MOJO
