Elvis would appear to be in the U.K. , going by this tweet this afternoon, so he may have been at the U2 show. (edit - he was, as earlier posts I missed now tell me)

That is quite cool!

I was at the MetLife show last month and it was wonderful. Tremendous experience, both musically and visually.

Picture sent to me by a friend at last night's friendly between Tranmere Rovers v Liverpool. Was supposed to have been going myself, but something came up, devastated.

Pump It Up used on tv in the intro build up to the final night of the World Athletics Championship!

On the back of the same track being used during the golf in July, maybe, just maybe, people are finally beginning to realise how good EC's music is ! ! ! 8)

Listening to Radio 5 Live's coverage of the closing minutes of the Premier League's transfer window (7 minutes to go as I type this) Phil McNulty, BBC's Chief Sports Writer announces that Ross Barkley has backed out of a move to Stanford Bridge (despite having agreed a fee and personal terms) with these words : "clearly his view is (I don't want to go to) Chelsea - as Elvis Costello once sang".

Apologies to anyone who thinks this should be on the 'relatively insignificant' thread instead :D

I'd agree if only Elvis had written (I 'm Not Going To Go To ) City as regards Sanchez

Seems 'Chelsea' was being used a bit yesterday. On talksport Bob Mills said it should be called national Elvis Costello day as it seems everyone is saying I don't want to go to Chelsea.

On a different note i caught a cab this morning to the station and I cant stand up for falling down was on the radio. This cabbie normally has radio 4 on. I heard the shipping forecast for the first time in years on Wednesday

My Facebook friends will already know this but, Mrs Sheep and I were out celebrating our silver wedding anniversary last Wednesday at a restaurant in Valldemossa Majorca. They played 'You hung the moon'. Not a fitting song lyrically but the tune fitted the mood of the place.

On TV in the UK, BBC Four gave another airing this evening of a compilation of clips show called "Classic Quartets at the BBC".

The penultimate quartet performance was EC and the Brodsky Quartet performing "Pills and Soap" originally broadcast in July 1996 on "Later With Jools Holland" and subsequently released on "Live- A Case For Song".

If you're in the UK you can watch the most recent broadcast on the BBC I-player here:

yesterday whilst getting over a severe case of man-flu I switched the TV on and BBC1's Homes under the Hammer was playing Opportunity. A bit of the vocal and then an extended instrumental section. Also I saw the Christmas jumper ad with Pump it up was on when i switched to Vintage TV

I dreamed a new Elvis song last night. If I'd woken up, I would've transcribed it, as we're always gagging for new Elvis material.

But alas, all I remember was that it was a sarcastic mid-tempo rocker that sounded like it came off My Aim Is True.

I’ve twice dreamt that I was playing bass in The Attractions, once at a garden party in aid of a church and I’ve been so desperate not to make s mistake. I’ve akso dreamt I was playing bass for LED Zeppelin , a band I could never get into on Plymouth Hoe and Robert Plant moaning at me because I didn’t know any of their songs ! I had a pair of very tight leather trousers on in my dream - if any of you know me , you are probably feeling a little nauseous at that image

Whilst this is now turning into a thread on dreams. I had a dream the next fan forum meet up was in a pub that didn't exist and we ended up in a tv show where people were all out to get us.

Opportunity is one of my son’s favourite tracks though I had tried to indoctrinate him with MLAR which came out when he was about two

Mrs. Getgood and I were playing Battleships on a quiz machine in the boozer the other night when the following multiple choice question popped up:

WHICH MUSICIAN WROTE THE MUSICAL SCORE IL SOGNO?

A - ELVIS COSTELLO
B - PAUL McCARTNEY
C - ELVIS PRESLEY

We went on to win a quid as well!
I love you just as much as I hate your guts.
