And it's a Saturday. John - I'd be able to get away with it if it was your 50th but I used that one up last year

This is looking all the more promising for further UK dates. 8)

Elvis just said he has written loads of song recently , all for three different stage musical projects. He's talking up Lucinda Williams now.

Elvis's lack of awareness of Iveagh Gardens is interesting. It's right next to the National Concert Hall , where Elvis appeared a few times in the 'Dublin years', either in his own show (with Steve in '99) or guesting with a few people , including Burt Bacharach ('99 again). There have been plans , unlikely to be realised soon, to reconfigure the NCH so that it's foyer opens out on to the Gardens.

There should be a podcast of this interview up soon.

Here's the quote: "I've written maybe 25, 30 more songs with Burt Bacharach for two separate projects and another dozen for another show, you know, and eventually the best of those songs will probably become part of my repertoire."

The interviewer, Paul McLoone, is the singer with the Undertones (who I'm going to see tonight in Belfast), who are also playing the Galway festival on 15 July that EC is playing at

I'm going to see The Undertones tomorrow in Dublin. The support act will be The Trouble Pilgrims , which is made up of surviving members of the Radiators From Space. Steve Averill is one of them. Steve designed sleeves for Elvis's albums in the 1990s. #touchedbythehandofdeclan

No support act for the Tones in Belfast tonight, but a Terri Hooley disco, which is always good stuff! Bass player Micky Bradley has a book out and he credits EC for recommending that the Undertones use Roger Bechirian as a produce, when they met backstage at TOTP in 1978.

I'm going! (ok, I don't have tickets yet, but John Foyle says that won't be a problem). Joel has business in Edinburgh that week and we'll fly in on Friday! Woohoo!

I really wanted to finally meet you, Verbal...

You'll need to come to the Bristol show then!

One day we'll meet and then all your disappointments will come at once

It's great that Joel has been coming to the UK fairly regularly of late. If you can make it to London then I'll do my best of course.
