At the CD autograph table after the show, I mentioned this appearance to Glenn which he remembered:

Wow - that's a very clean copy of the 1981 appearance , even if it has a stomach churning amount of Jimmy Saville in it.

A very prominent member of this Forum sent me a stack of 20 DVD's with good clean copies of EC's TV appearances through the years. This is from that stack.

Most likely. Fragile as the VHS format is , by the time your tape got to me it had deteriorated somewhat. Maybe the Docs source had a copy that survived better. It's still so annoying that RTE (Irish TV) have a perfect copy in their archives that they will not release because of a ' one broadcast only' permit that , presumably, Jake insisted on back at the time.

Great clip. Observations:

1. Nice how they're both playing guitars furiously without being plugged into anything. And Elvis is gamely "playing" the opening lead on his acoustic.

2. I love how Glenn pops into the frame for his first vocal. Cocaine's a hell of a drug.

3. Hopefully that's as close as "Mr." Saville got to that week's contestant. Yeesh.

I cringed when Saville was straightening the boy's jacket. You know it's bad when you're rooting for the kid to be spirited off to the "safe haven" of the EC+As/Squeeze tour bus.

Thanks for posting these. I'm guessing Youtube would be the best place to try and find rare EC tv appearences? I'd like to find as many as I can.
