What Happened?

Post by martinfoyle »

This board died on friday, and returned this evening. What happened? Are you on Dublin time, where we're just coming off a holiday weekend? Whatever, it's good have it back.

There was a bandwidth problem.. but taz upgraded so hopefully it won't go down again.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Whew! Glad the board is back up. Maybe we can get an e-mail list of regular posters together in case this happens again.

I'd just like to thank Taz for fixing the site, Blue for keeping everyone in the know, and Spooky for doing the group email thing.

Cheers guys...glad to be back!!!!!!

(if anyone didn't get the group email, maybe you should give it to Blue...ask him first though, he might not think it's a good idea)

Phew...I always get worried when these things happen. I feel like I've been disinvited to a party.

I used to have a clean house before I joined this site! :o

I almost caught up on everything I was behind on while the site was down, now I'm just going to get behind again.

And yet, it's so good to be back. :) Thanks a million, taz. We owe you big. :)

Like spooks, I actually got some housework done!!

My new roommate was extra appreciative.

But I'm REALLY GLAD that the board is back.

Thanks to Blue & spooks (and Dr. spooks!!) for keeping me informed.

Woah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went to that other EC forum that John reccomended...it sucks the big one! It's like our evil twin, looks the same except it has no banter, no friendship and nearly everything is posted by an anonymous Guest.

Take a peek, but be warned, you may have nightmares!

this forum isn't huge enough to lose bandwith just with posting. i don't think so, anyway.

so the question is: who direct-linked?
if we can rock together, why can't we walk together?

Is that rhyming slang for something?

Whats directlinking? Is there a conspiracy afoot?

Don't you all dare try to start using technical computer terms!!! I'll scream I tell you!!!!

I'm convinced it was some sort of Patriot Act link up so that they can make sure we aren't all plotting to take over the world...they've got that covered!!

Maybe it was martians?--or does that get capitalized?

I'm convinced it was the suggested link to Amazon!!! You will all notice that that logo is right up there now....yep, up there!!!

Let's say that someone up loaded a peanut butter and jelly sandwich...that makes more sense to me than anything else..

Thanks to "that weird other board" I found out about Toto's covers record "Through the Looking Glass" and heard their cover of "Watching the Detectives" which is hella funny. As are their Bob Marley and Steely Dan covers.

(look under multimedia section)

A Belgian who works with me was very excited about going home for the weekend to see Toto live in concert. If you can't say anything nice...

Toto is certainly a ridiculous band. I was appalled to find one of their LP's in my parents old collection. But I suppose the wealth of Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young records made up for it.

Jeff Porcaro's drumming on Africa is incredible, hypnotic. The rest of their stuff is shite.

...Direct-linking is when you, say, take a picture that's on this site and put a link to it on your site so it shows up as a regular image. Whenever someone would look at your site, they would also be using up bandwith from this site. Er.

Well, that's always the cause when one of my favorite sites go down...
