Due to unforseen circumstances I have two tickets on offer for St. James Theatre.
If anyone wants them and lets me know by 11.00 am tomorrow then I can 'Special Delivery' them to reach a buyer by Monday 1.00pm.
Shame to waste them, it's just not possible for us to go now

Hi to everyone going tonight - just to warn you that Victoria station is a TOTAL NIGHTMARE at rush hour. It can take 20 minutes to get above ground because of overcrowding. Then, once you get above ground, there is a massive regeneration project going on around the station, which takes you another 15 mins to navigate before getting free of it!

So if you want to get there for 6ish, leave half an hour extra for your journey. Or just avoid Victoria station altogether and get off at St James's Park tube (Circle and District Line) - it's a tiny bit further away but a far more pleasant experience!

What a great evening, lovely to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

Steve was brilliant, the show was just right I thought. He brought Alex and Tall out at just the right time in the set and best of all we all had a little sing song.

Very tired this morning had to get up at 6 to get to work, thanks everyone for an excellent evening see you at the RFH

It was a very special night. It was almost like a private or personal performance. Very intimate venue which was the perfect setting. Some great stories, some brilliant piano playing, a couple of sing-alongs, and some new performers. All in all a very memorable gig. Definitely one to say..........."I was there".
It was also good to catch up with all the old faces from this site. I lost track of how many board members were there. It must have been 10 at least, but I'm sure someone who is far cleverer than me will list them all !
Well done Steve, brilliant gig, and I look forward to seeing most of "the gang" again at the RFH gig in a few weeks.

Just joined the EC Forum after meeting a bunch of the guys at the Steve Nieve show last night.
I've posted some pics on FB, wondered if there is a demand/culture of sharing such pics & how best to do it as I guess many folk weren't able to get to one of the Sold Out shows?!

Hi Ian

It was great to meet you last night and welcome to the family.

As far as sharing and demand is concerned, the more Elvis the better. :D

This was a great intimate show and I sat 2ft from Steve so watching him play was revelationary.

Steve showed himself to be good fun, with some great stories thrown in. He realised who we all were which made him jokingly on edge. He must have known that as he played his solo versions of Elvis' songs that we were all singing every word in our heads...

I asked Steve if he was going to do this format of singing Elvis songs again. He said he enjoyed it and would do 8)

When I was chatting to him he kept saying "I know you don't I? Why do I know you?". Surely he realised I'm one of the gang that's stalked him and met him many times over the years. Anyone who knows me knows I have a, erm, distinctive face

It was a great forum turnout. In no particular order

Hello! This is Adrian, signed up as promised after a great evening with you guys,

As others have said it was such a pleasure to be so close to Steve and see his remarkable musicianship so clearly.

He seemed a little nervous at the start but relaxed into his performance, especially after his big slurp of wine that I thought he would return to, but never did. Alex Cornish's comment that there was nothing scarier than singing EC songs to a room of EC fans probably applies to some extent to Steve as well, even though he has been an essential component of their creation.

The balance of EC material, story telling, Steve's own songs and those of the guest vocalists made for a great varied 2 hour programme. And after the rousing encore of PLU and Imagine (in honour of Lennon's 75th birthday) he improvised a final number based on 4 notes suggested by the audience which was beautiful and to me remarkable that he could pull out of the bag after 2 hours on stage.

Thanks to John and Nick for their parts in getting me a ticket and hope we get the chance to do it again soon.

My facebook comment on the night -

Highly entertaining show in London tonight by Steve Nieve, along with Alex Cornish & Tall Ulysse. With only a few duplications of tunes done in Liverpool, highlights included reworkings of Talking In The Dark & London's Brilliant Parade. Afterwards it was mayhem, with the aristes happily engaging with the fans, joking & chatting with visitors from Sweden & Norway & all over. Steve gave some enigmatic but nod 'n a wink answers to pointed questions about any future activities by him and Elvis, with the implication being that there are plans of some description. Steve's mum was there, proud of his accomplishments & gracious in accepting our compliments. How we ended up in the bar next door singing Squeeze songs is unclear but seemed a perfect ending to a great night.

Note to all US Citizens on this board: Difford & Tilbrook are in the states with their "At Odds Couple" tour. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go see them. Outstanding, fantastic show and loads of fun. You can thank me later once you walk out of the venue and just feel completely elated. These guys are happening and I foresee good times ahead for them in states. DO IT!

Enjoy, Doc! Definitely stop by the merch table and buy the live recording of the show. Genius idea to offer that at shows.

I fly back east on the 18th, but won't be able make the last show on the tour. Oh well. They seem to be killing here in the states, so hopefully we'll see more shows posted in 2016. I did ask Glenn about when they might return (w/ full band to promote their new release), he said, "May/June"... That would be cool. We shall see. Ultimate dream show would be EC w/ Squeeze. That would be awesome. I'd take off a month to follow that tour. Only live once (I think), right?

Chris gives Elvis a neat shout out in the latest entry on his blog -

Elko (not in the tour itinerary)

23rd November 2015 by Chris Difford

Yes a night in Elko Nevada is on the cards, so we pull up at the Casino and the drives get some sleep before heading off for the spare part at first light. Me I’m on the bus, but first some food in the Casino. Inside some rustic looking people stand and sit at the slots, some look connected by their hands possibly there all night. The sound of Buck Owens drifts around the room mixing gentle with the bells and more bells of the machines, and some electronic Yellow Magic Orchestra type sounds, its a soft prickly conveyer belt of harmonics. Four oldish woman gather around a machine, a man about my age stands with his baseball cap round the wrong way sipping a beer. He is clearly the only game in town as they swoon to his every word, to me he looks like a goof, a misfit even. Together they trade laughter and words over some hand gestures and teasing looks, and then the tannoy. The female voice beckons people to play Poker, right next to Starbucks.

Its empty, Sunday night in Elko seems like a quite one. As i walk to the bus in the cold night air i spot three men loading guns into one of the hotel rooms from a pick up truck, they look like they might be in a rush but they pay no attention to me as i waddle by like some distant Alan Whicker figure in the night. In the bus i wonder if I’m safe, i rest on my bed and hope of the best, a very expensive tour bus in a parking lot full of dodgy looking cars and pick up trucks. Im so tired i can’t give a toss. The other bus must be close to Minneapolis, we still have 20 hours to go once this valve is picked up from Salt Lake City in the morning. Im ready for some still, some bed under the sign of the Red Lion Casino. Elko is famous for its surrounding mines, mostly all now closed down, some gold some silver. Its also famous for local prostitution which is legal here in this one horse town. I saw no signs of this as we drove in down the long wide main street, all i saw where cheap motels and shops with not much inside.

I could not be far enough away from home, from the village life and from the ones i love. I might sneak out to dig for some gold in them there hills, and then again i might not. Thinking about it the motels looks very busy back there. Sleep please and a few more chapters of that wonderful Elvis book. I love having him read it to me, its like he is in the room, Jackanory with Elvis Costello.

Nice! People seem to really like the audio book version. Elko is also known for its Cowboy Poetry Festival - http://www.westernfolklife.org/General- ... -page.html

Cool, Doc. Totally fun show, right? It's even better than a full band show, I think. I'm seeing Nick Lowe tomorrow night. Should be another fun show. Good times! Peace.
