He might be a good contender had it not already been announced that it will be Nick Hornby.

Nick Hornby said he's doing it, according to a Twitter account of a public interview he did a few weeks ago. For some reason that hasn't been confirmed officially.

Yeah, really hoping this is not the final end time! Surely he's gotta do a brief solo set!

Though ITV studios, where they film The Graham Norton Show on Thursdays, is just down the way from there... but I don't think he's a Graham Norton sort of guest, really... Hmmm... we'll see!

I was told a few weeks ago he wouldn't be. Maybe they didn't know at the time.

So what if you have a ticket for the HMV signing? Not sure I'd want to carry two copies of that massive book up to London with me!

Wasn't a bad guess though, I believe the Jonathan Ross show is filmed on a Thursday and our man is on this week

Re: Book promo, London , October 29th 2015 - Meet Up

Post by verbal gymnastics »

I not sure if anyone's meeting up for the HMV signing and the RFH show. I may end up bumping into people at HMV but I'm not sure who's around all day.

Shall we arrange a meet up at the RFH? The bar seems the likeliest place so how about meeting up from 6.45pm.

Feel free to PM me for my mobile number.

I'll be the one hanging around the cool kids desperately trying to fit in. Or on my own trying to find some cool kids to hang around with...

I'll be heading up to the RFH straight after work. Can't make book signing unfortunately. See you all in the bar!

Just phoned RFH. They confirmed that Elvis will be doing a signing session after the 'gig' and a bookstand will be present for those who wish to purchase a copy at the venue.

I'll try to get to the RFH for 6.45 but work has been pretty horrendous lately for getting out at a reasonable hour. Hopefully see you there.

Great turnout saw Elvis talk the talk & sing the songs - Beyond Belief, Indoor Fireworks & Share Your Love . He also played a recording, during the interview, of a solo song from the early 1970s. He didn't identify it & none of us recognised it. I was told of a audience recording afterwards so when/if I get it I can pass it on & we can all hear it.

Afterwards he signed for over an hour. He was interested to see the flip back, trade edition I brought from Dublin. I told him the hardback edition doesn't seem to be on sale in Ireland - he joked that maybe they were afraid people would throw them at you. I told him I hoped to go to the Zurich show next year because I hadn't been there. He said its a beautiful town & we shook hands as I had to move on.

It was great to chat before & after with many from here. I can't post photos here using this 'phone - I hope to do so later.

Impressive turnout which Elvis said he was very touched by. He said he had been there to see classical performances and the place was only half full.

I felt a bit sorry for Nick Hornby. He came across as a real fan and clearly had the questions he wanted to ask whereas I think Elvis wanted to lead the early proceedings in the direction he wanted, and didn't really answer the questions.

The mid point when Hornby produced a list of numbers with a name against the odd numbers and a song against the even numbers was probably most the enjoyable part of the questioning. Elvis seemed to enjoy it.

It did seem as though it could have gone on a lot longer than the hour and 35 minutes which was well over the advertised one hour duration.

A nice touch by Elvis playing Indoor Fireworks. I don't know if it was planned on in response the lady that requested he play it on the tour next year.

Nice to to meet John Foyle on the way out in the queue for the book signing. I didn't wait as I had already had my book signed earlier, had a brief chat and had a photo with Elvis earlier in HMV and outside when I ran into him as he was leaving the building.

Very convivial evening. Great chat, even if he steered away from answering a lot of Nick's questions. The audience questions prompted some very good humoured replies and exchanges, not least the one about King Horse. I had no idea the song title came from XXXXXXX XXXXX (expletives deleted). The three song set that closed proceedings was veritably breathtaking.
