Chris Robinson Opening For Elvis

Post by Boy With A Problem »

I saw in the Boston Globe this morning that Chris Robinson (Former Black Crowe, Goldie Hawn's son in law) will be opening for Elvis in Boston. I assume he'll be the support act for the summer tour.

I saw the Black Crowes twice and was disappointed both times - even though I kind of like the group and have some of their discs. I saw them with Oasis and I though they got blown off the stage (can you imagine Oasis opening for the Crowes) - and I saw them with Jimmy Page where they just did Zepplin songs and Robinson had the lyrics out in front of him on a teleprompter.

I was hoping beyond hope for Wreckless Eric.

He's a bit of a dork, and now he's got Penny "Kate Hudson" Lane pregnant.

Me too, BWAP, about the Black Crows.
I'll be seeing him in Philadelphia in July and was a little disappointed by Chris Robinson too.
I'm not angry anymore....

I saw he Black Crowes twice. Once before their first album got big. And they were smashing. Then again after their first album got big. They were pathetic. And every album after was a huge pile of crap.

Too bad that Elvis is letting this hack open for him.

maybe I'll like him better than Billy Bob Thornton....

although, I SWEAR John Lennon was playing in Thornton's band....

He looked like John would look in 2002, and he never stepped into the spotlight. He was totally happy to play rhythm guitar in the background...

OH, and he was the only member of the band NOT to be introduced by Thornton.

you know who should open for Elvis? Clem Snide. they'd be absofreakinglutely perfect.

or, you know, any number of underground-ish pop bands that are infinitely better than Chris Whatshisname.

I dunno, I liked seeing Billy Bob Thornton open for Elvis. Not that I particularly enjoyed his performance, mind you--but the chintz value of seeing Billy Bob try to be a rock star is astronomical.

Chris Robinson is just lame. :( Maybe I'll show up late.

I havent heard his solo album but I saw the Black Crowes play here in Auckland a few years back in a big tent in the pissing rain and they rocked big time. Towards the end of their set they unveiled a huge backdrop of a giant picture of Leon Russell from the cover of Leon Live - top hat and all. Great show and a great band in my book. I would love to see Chris open for E.C - but thats just me

I'm going to be up close to the stage in Sterling Heights in 2 weeks...
If I do come in close contact with Kate Hudson, is it PC to talk to her, or is it better to pretend like you don't know she's there?
What would I say anyway?
