(Edit: Numbering corrected.)

ANCT.....i have found that i do indeed have FLOW MY TEARS and I THREW AWAY THE ROSE appearing twice on the list. again, this was probably due to THIS type of wiki page for each of these songs: http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/inde ... w_My_Tears
rather than the detailed ones which clearly state "FIRST EVER PERFORMANCE" etc about MOST songs! so please feel free to delete these songs SECOND appearance upon my list as i have just done. best, ba p.s. list tally amended to show 671 upon this list + 673 on my list should bring your total to 1344 if you can re-do that first post of yours and list it now with corrections. THANKS!

I thought I’d have a look at this for omissions and update more recent performances. Some of these titles may be considered for inclusion.

As ANCT notes earlier, some titles are listed twice on the initial list and I also noticed a slight typo

My Joy Theatre (Typo) = My Toy Theatre

I’m not sure of some of your references Ba. Can you clarify the following songs ? Original artist, date performed ?

Broken Heart
He’s a Rebel
People
Spacey Jam
Three Times A Fool
What Kind Of Fool Am I

There are of course many other songs that have never been performed live which if added would easily exceed Ba’s target of 1500. In fact I’ve compiled a list including other songs recorded but never played live which currently stands at 1,598.

Lots more titles were performed pre professionally, some documented, others more speculative.

I've Got You Under My Skin
The Little White Bull
Man Of The World
Dance, Dance, Dance
I've Been Working
Wooden Ships
Come On Back Home
The Mighty Quinn (Quinn, The Eskimo)
Happy Together
Sound Of Thunder
I'm Your Lover Man
Dry Land
Merry Go Round
One More Day
Nightingale
Silver Pistol
Last Time I was Fooled
Unknown Number
Range War
Egypt
Niki Hoeke Speedway
Ju Ju Man
Rockin' Chair
I'm A Hog For You
On the Road Again (Dylan)
Hard to Handle
Big Boss Man
Baby Just One Kiss
Looking At The World Through A Windshield
Seeds and Stems Again Blues
Willin'
Cold, Cold, Cold
Can I Have My Money Back?
Sing Me Back Home
This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak for You)
Save the Last Dance for Me
After Midnight

What about the unknown and unheard original listed recently by Costello as “No Star”

What about TV live appearances? Shouldn’t they count? I see some are included but others are not.

Georgia On My Mind
True Love
Don’t Fence Me In
New Paint
All I Have To Do Is Dream
Didn’t Leave Nobody But The Baby
Good Old Mountain Dew
Goodnight Irene
The Ghost of Tom Joad
Do Re Mi
So Long Marriane
Several musical introductions from both Spectacle series.

Rest of the Pogues set from Malmo 1985. Presumably Elvis was on stage for the full set?

Jesse James
Muirshin Dirkin
Navigator
The Battle of Brisbane (Instrumental)
The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn
Repeal of the Licencing Laws (Instrumental)
Waxie’s Dargle
Whisky, You’re The Devil
Wild Cats of Kilkenny (Instrumental)
Dingle Regatta

The Trouble With Dreams (sung by Mary Wiegold)

Do live renditions of Il Sogno count ?

Song snippets or crowd banter

From A Jack to A King
Just The Way You Are
My Girl
Luck Be A Lady
La Marseilles
The Red Flag (O tannenbaum)
All The Way
Just Someone I Used To Know
Caroline No
Georgy Girl
Cant take my eyes off you
Alfie
Bad Medicine
Beautiful Dreamer
Chicago (song):
Get Me to The Church On Time
I'm A Loser
Luck Be A Lady
Lullaby Of Broadway
Theme From A Summer Place
Where the Blue of The Night Meets The Gold of The Day

Musical interludes on The Revolver tour

Whole Lotta Love
The Avengers Theme
Spinning Wheel etc ???

Some DEFINITE omissions on your list which meet all your criteria would include:

Arms Race
Color of The Blues
The World of Broken Hearts
A Drunken Man’s Praise of Sobriety
Rainy Day Women #12 & #35
Night Time
Just Another Mystery
Private Number
Little Savage
Tommy's Coming Home
Matthew Met Mary
Santa Cruz

You list some alternative versions where the lyric or arrangement has changed slightly, how about :

You Bowed Down (Bridge version)

All of the recent Lost on The River related songs (many with more than 1 version)
Quick Like A Flash is the only song from the album never to be performed live to date.

Lost On The River #12
Married To My Hack
When I Get My Hands On You
Florida Key
Spanish Mary
Down On The Bottom
Kansas City
Nothing To It
Duncan And Jimmy
Liberty Street
The Whistle Is Blowing
Diamond Ring
Stranger
Hidee Hidee Ho #11
Hidee Hidee Ho #16
Down On The Bottom (EC)
Card Shark
Florida Key (alternate)
Golden Tom - Silver Judas
Lost On The River #20
Hidee Hidee Ho (bootleg vol 2 version)
Six Months In Kansas City (Liberty Street)

All fascinating stuff anyway. Maybe a new volume of EC’s Record Collection will be due soon.

Out of control, man.

Can someone put this in a database of some kind so it is easier to search and navigate? You might want to start with MongoDB. It's open source (FREE) and can be hosted in the cloud. It would be cool to connect this db with open APIs that might be available through the music industry and create a cool service around EC's live, recorded, and covered tunes (cover tunes from EC and artists that have covered EC). Whatever. I'll shut up now.
