Strangers In Amsterdam LP

Post by sulky lad »

Of all the old vinyl bootlegs of EC, this is my Holy Grail , though I do have a recording on cassette. Has anyone here ever seen or own a copy ? It has never appeared on eBay or on Discogs and I've never seen a copy at any record fair - and I've attended quite a few I can tell you !

It's not something I'm familiar with.

The show is pretty similar to the others around this time. Is there anything special about it eg he says the word "I" in a different pitch on a song or something equally important to you completists

I also own a vinyl copy.

There are more details and photos of it at the EC WIki. It is nothing very special as a recording, but has a certain novelty value as one of relatively few "Coward Brothers" recordings.

EC has rather given up on touring or performing as part of a duo, but it was good to see him perform "Shipbuilding" as a duet with Conor J O'Brien at the Royal Albert Hall last month.

Any other favourite EC duet/duo performances?

25 years ago EC toured UK with Nick Lowe as support - how good was that? - I saw the 11th May 1989 show at the Royal Court, Liverpool. For Encore One they came on stage and played Fireworks and PLU. Clearly not a gig MOOT, but an epic cameo duet.

BTW all proceeds for the show and the previous one at the same venue were donated to the Hillsborough families fund.

I have it as well. As MOOT says, nothing very special about it in my eyes. It is quite good.
