1994 Letterman Appearance

Post by the_platypus »

Hey guys. Long time no post.

I was wondering if anyone here had any idea what this was all about.

I love this 1994 performance of 13 Steps Lead Down on Letterman. But I'm puzzled by Letterman's introduction. What does it mean when he says "their first appearance in over... eight years" while motioning the number 2?

It's just been bugging me for a while.

I dont get the 8 and 2 joke either.

That is a ripping performance. Love the Radio, Radio bit at the end.

Letterman is known for making inside jokes with his audience where he will discuss things with them off the air (usually in the pre-show warmups) and then reference the discussion on the air. Only the in studio audience will get it.

There is a chance the two references something earlier in the broadcast (its been waaaay too long since I've seen the complete episode), but this smells like one of his classic inside jokes with the studio audience.
