Just as well I was on my best behaviour, I hope you captured my cheering and foot stamping between songs. Probably better for all concerned if my contribution to the call and response during Less than Zero was not preserved for posterity.

Sorry we didn't meet! All the usual suspects from this Board appear to have had seats in the stalls.

One of the epics from last night was "For More Tears" a song I vaguely knew but couldn't really place. The Wiki advises that it hasn't been released officially. Last night was it's first UK performance.

Info here - http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/inde ... More_Tears

Wonderfully movingly sad:

"...Now dark bells will chime.
For our sins and our crimes,
96 times,
For more tears..."

Recommend this from Eindhoven 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J25hwD3iYZ4.

It was indeed 'He's Given Me Things'. Top-notch song though - first time I'd heard it.

Wonderful, marvellous,

"The Ken Dodd of Manchester" someone said behind me (which was in the direction of Bradwellboy - good call on 3 Sons by the way) as he started yet another song.

It felt like it could go on forever with great surprises (Dr Luther's Assistant I KNOW!!). That big yellow guitar sounded brilliant, it all sounded brilliant.

BA...

I think that's one of those throwaway songs he's done occasionally over the years, often in collaboration with someone ("Seven Day Weekend") or for a movie soundtrack ("Crawling to the USA" and, yeah, "Party, Party"). The latter two sound like Elvis Costello doing a cover of an Elvis Costello song, if you know what I mean.

Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I wouldn't hope for him to bust them out live....

Thanks for sharing e.g. 'He's given me things'.
