Thanks for youtube link - an impassioned performance which I remember watching at the time as a lanky, spotty, teenage geek - brings back 'happy' memories.
(I met my partner at the site where this was filmed - Tyne Tees / Egypt Cottage, Newcastle - demolished years ago.)
Read an interview with Jerry Dammers at the weekend in which he spoke of EC being asked to produce this single as he could get the disparate parties involved together. Elvis did a fantastic job; was at the top of his game as producer at this period - R, S & L shortly after another highpoint.

I remember EC performing this on The Tube with the Special AKA and Dave Wakeling of The Beat. I think he was a last minute relacement for the singer (Stan??) who couldn't make the show for some reason. I am sure someone here will remember the full story,
