I think I have Flash enabled. The syntax is

Code: Select all

[flash=width,height]URL[/flash]
I can't seem to find a good example and make it automatically start but this seems to work once you right click and select Play. I tried to get some Britney Spears game for you all but that never worked for me. :)

Thanks for your hard work, Doc !
The only problem I seem to have is when I try to go back to the previous page and I get "the page has expired" message.
Not sure if it's something wrong with my computer, though. (on the other hand I didn't have the problem before, at least with EC Fan Forum).

Are you using IE7 by any chance?

Does this sound like what you are seeing?

Try it again. There were two search engine alternatives. I changed to the other one and changed a setting so that words up to 24 characters would be included in the index (previously up to 14).

I don't know if it will help but it was worth a try.

Doc, back to the Youtube question, would it be possible to install an easy mod like this?

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=375183

I don't know if that's old - or which version of the software we are now using. There is also more info here:

I am looking at You Tube solutions. The mod you linked to is out of date as best I can tell since it refers to files that are not in our source. I see other solutions but so far, I haven't made one work.

If we're using version 3.0 that second link I posted has pretty clear instructions about how to add it. Not that I know what I'm talking about, tech-wise.

Editor: Modified to reflect youtube changed to be a "popup" and youtube1 now being the inline version.

How about this version of a tag? You just enter the video id tag between the

Code: Select all

[youtube1][/youtube1]
tags. Just in case, we need to know where this came from, the 'youtube1' BBCode extension was from http://www.lifehacker.com.au/tips/2007/ ... bb3_1.html.

The youtube popup code came from http://phpbbacademy.com/community/viewt ... 237#p38226

Hurrah! Works perfectly. For anyone wanting to use this feature, you do not post the entire YouTube URL in between the youtube tags, just the bit after the = symbol at the end of the YouTube URL. That's the video ID#.

That's a much better test video than mine. Spooky gently guided me toward that one after I suggested Read a Book or Chocolate Rain. :-D

Are there any other BBCode tags you folks want? I saw some for google video. There may be others of interest.

I don't use Google video much, but I'm sure others do. Might be good to have that option as well, if it's not too much trouble.

Yep, this is it.
Guess I should be rather using Mozilla Firefox from now on.

Personally I rather enjoyed your one! Love the menu function on these.

Just to make a new post about this instead of simply modifying old ones to make them update, I changed the youtube tag to do a popup box. The old inline tag is now called youtube1.

I think it looks pretty cool. Now on to the ProSilver update.

Doc I like the popup box, but it comes out so huge that the resolution is compromised. Is this something you can fix, or is it an issue with my browser?

PS - Resolution gets better if I reduce the size of the browser window. I suppose I could just do that.

I think that behavior may have been something temporary while I was editing the header. It is very fragile and if you noticed while I was working, the site would sometimes load and sometimes not.

Anyway, I think the popup YouTube video and embedded YouTube video both work on both the ProSilver and SubSilver2 styles. I think both are available for use.

Google videos now work embedded. I don't see how to make them popup right yet.

Everything is really taking shape and looks better all the time. One question, though. I prefer the type to be right-justified, rather than centered. Do I have the option to change this on my display?

migdd - I think that's another mod he would have to add. See here:

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 6&t=579376

Just watched that Christmas Vacation clip.

Lots of future Seinfelders in there. Best part: "You couldn't hear a dumptruck driving through a nitroglycerin plant!" I think that's William Hickey - he was always great as a nasty old man.

What setting feature am I missing that will at least left justify all the posts. Everything is centered which is maddening to read!

Thanks for the upgrade!

pophead, I haven't even played with this as much as WSS, but I think what you need to do is to click on User Control Panel, located right under the Amazon button at the top of the site page. On Board Preferences, choose subsilver 2. I think that may fix it for you, but let me know if it doesn't.

Agreed! I mentioned this in my previous post but was a bit dislexic in stating I prefered the text within the posts to be "right-justified". Duh-huh!!! I meant LEFT-justified, of course. Centered text is great for titles, headings, etc., but I prefer my paragraphs to look like paragraphs. I'm just a bit old-fashioned that way.

Thanks, Spookys! And yes, Subsilver is the ticket. It made me a little seasick tromping through the new format.

And SG...love the avatar.
Why don't you write about it in your blag?
