Downtime for Site Upgrade

Post by DrSpooky »

The site is currently running on what most would consider a very old computer. We have a new computer to host the site on and will need to shutdown to make the transition of the forum in a consistent way. I expect the down period will be a few hours. There should be no obvious changes except the computer is faster. Smile

I am unsure of precisely when this will occur but wanted to give at least 24 hours notice to everyone. So it will not happen before Sunday afternoon Huntsville time (CST).

OK OK.. I didn't do it Sunday. I will start on it shortly. I am going to try to put up a temporary page during the transition so people don't worry.

The upgrade did not happen. I was not satisfied that everything on the new machine was configured correctly and after a couple of hours of frustration, gave up. I will try again in the near future.

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say that the software running the board has been updated. Hopefully other than a few seconds of downtime, no one will notice anything.

If you see anything odd with The Board, please pass it along.

FYI, I keep getting the following error message when I try to access the site. I wasn't able to view the site for almost a week. Not sure what it means or why it sorta works now (still getting the error, but have some functionality). I didn't know where to put this; hope it's ok to post this here.

Is anyone else seeing this error? I haven't seen it at all and no one else has reported it.

I investigated the message and repaired the table "phpbb_users". There are hints on the web that this might be spurious so if anyone else sees it please report it.

I hope I have fixed it but don't know for sure.

Thanks.
