Please Read - Spookys Away in Munich

Post by spooky girlfriend »

I'm lucky enough to be married to a guy who gets these great nerdy software teaching gigs in far away places. So, off we go - kids and all. We leave in about 24 hours :o and will return on October 16.

As most of you know, the server for the site lives in our basement. Since we won't be here for a few days, we won't really know the status of things, administratively speaking. If our home should lose power, then the site is down. If that happens, the site automatically comes back on whenever our power is restored.

I don't know how much Doc or I will be logged onto the site during our time in Munich, but if any of you should have any concerns, email us at either of these addresses - they're the ones we will be checking on the most:

ecfans@gmail.com
joel.sherrill@gmail.com

I'm certain that Blue can take care of you guys in that fancy moderator way that he has been doing for so long now.

If any of you out there are near Munich or want to come see us, pm me. I don't know that we have ever even had German board members. :? Anyhow, should any of you find yourselves near there, please let us know. Much beer and Reisling is to be consumed over the next few days.

I am ssssssoooooooooooo not packed, so I will be slaving away at that today. Well, that and trying to get my van fixed where I swerved in the road to miss something yesterday and hit the curb, bending my rim and blowing my tire. Oh yeah, and knocking the van out of line.

I'm ordering drinks as soon as I get on that plane.

Even when you and DrS are away you're thinking of us.

That's one of the reasons we love you both so much.

Have a fab time. And if you feel like dressing up as a buxom beer wench then please feel free to post pictures. And you too Spooky

It's been three years since narbawlz entrusted me with the role, and in his spirit I will let no shit be disturbed.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Hoist a few for me!! Have an utter blast. In the interim I will be racking up posts (I just passed you, Spooks!).

And don't forget, the alignment of your van is ephemeral; travel memories are forever. XXXOOO 8)

Enjoy the vacation, spooky - well earned.

And remember, the pretzels are not complimentary. I wolfed down about five of them before our server came to our table and counted how many we had taken out of the basket - those crazy Germans!

I know, WSS. You can go into a Mexican restaurant though and eat baskets of chips and bowls of salsa until you throw up, all complimentary with your meal. I don't get it either.

Hand to God, it's just cheaper to drink than to eat anything else in Germany. I'm all about saving money. 8)

Have a great time and for God's sake don't create an international incident at some German sex shop.

Is that aimed at me? Why? Erm, no reason. Carry on as before...

Well, I don't have long, but I'm here and loving it! We've seen castles, churches and well, shopping.

Hope you guys are behaving yourselves. I'll try to check back in later.

Hey MBA, if you're listening, I just passed Elisenstrasse and thought of you. :)

Spooky - as you've posted twice in a row, the screen shows double of Woodstock racing across the screen. It's eyecatching!

Hope you're having a great time.

PM me and I'll snitch on everyone who's being naughty  *

Yay! Elisenstrasse! Throw a wink at Nussbaumstrasse, too, if you see it.

Hope you guys had a great time and dared try the local Weisswurst*, which I'd say is the best.

Pity though that I haven't had time to tread the board in a while, so I could've let you know that my band played in Ebersberg on the fringes of Munich last Friday. Then again, free beer and punk the night before wouldn't be the recipe for a perfect return trip, so maybe it was for the best.

Now that breaks my heart, King. I would have loved nothing more than meeting up with you. We may be back in the spring, not sure, but pleeeeeeeeease let me know. I should have thought to make contact with everyone on that side of the globe before I left, but time was running out. The whole trip happened so fast. Damn. Maybe next time. And we didn't fly back until Sunday, so a Saturday hangover could have been okay. 8)

Pictures to follow. I'm still unloading them.

I have to say I am not.

To me the best thing in Munchen is walking the streets and the Pinacothek. 8)

With nasty things like BSE around, you can never get enough cow brain in your diet.

Up there with Coffee Crisps (Canada) and Tim Tams and Cherry Ripes (Australia) on my list of favorite foreign confectionary.

PS: Speaking of Coffee Crisps, I stumbled across this. At last, a worthy cause!
