We seem to be back

Post by HungupStrungup »

. . . . . missing a few days' posts.

There'll be no complaints from me though. I missed this place.

Taz took of care of most of the problem. From my side, it appeared that the domain was back online sometime about 6am this morning but the phpBB was inaccessible. I assumed something remained to be done by Taz and since it was 6am on a Saturday, left it alone. After talking to him this evening, I realized that there was some technical tweaking left to do. A few minutes later and the board was back up.

Hopefully Taz and I can work things out so there are two people who can attempt to get problems fixed. That should help out some.

I am amazed and tickled that people spotted it up before Spooky could get her group email out.

Thanks Taz and DrSpooky!!!

It's a lonely, lonely world without my board posters to read.

I was thinking about calling 911 to get some help, but thought better of it, but I don't know how much longer I could have held out.

Yeah...glad to be back, even though a couple of days worth of posts have evanished like the snow falls in the river....

...including one post I made in the annex.

To those people who posted their concern or just thought it...cheers, I enjoy speaking to such clever and kind folk.

Bummer. I don't know what can be done about it since it is hard to imagine why it even would have disappeared. I doubt the hosting company went to the trouble to actually purge the site and load it from backups. If it were my hosting company, I would lean more to automatically disabling access and then after 60-90 days, purging the content. But that's just me.

There was a messed up .htaccess file that was keeping people from accessing the index.php file, so it would of been backup faster had that not been an issue. I believe the "hosting" company does this by default as a means of "bandwidth usage protection". Anywho, seems to be cool now..

Oh good - it's not just me.

I hate to mention these things (what with my computer ignorance) in case I make even more of a fool of myself.

Is this something that we can sort out ourselves or is it something best left for the experts?

The "bottom scrolling issue" was just for the page that contained Misha's overlong "Yaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. . . ." etc. No biggie.
