Re: Elvis, other good gents featured in Jim Lauderdale doc

Thanks MOJO! We are doing a launch screening in Nashville on Monday 15 September at Bongo After Hours Theatre. Jim and I will be doing a Q&A after the screening - expect great anecdotes and terrible puns. https://www.facebook.com/events/698520373536061 If anyone from the forum is heading along, ...

Elvis also doesn't appear on Lewis's new album, but that shouldn't stop anyone here from picking it up. It's the album of the year.

Hi Neil, thanks for the interest. The Steve one actually has another bit of recording that needs to be added to the episode, which I'm coordinating with Steve at the moment. Should be out in the next month or so.

Cheers BWAP - glad to hear you're enjoying them. And I'll keep that in mind. I hope you noticed I resisted the urge to do it with Joni Mitchell and Nazareth in the latest episode.

My Favorite Album Podcast

Hi guys, There's a thread on this http://www.elviscostellofans.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10242 going in the Elvis part of the forum, but since this deals with mainly non-EC related subjects, I thought I'd start a new one here. Since the beginning of the year, I've been producing and hosting...

Re: Elvis, other good gents featured in Jim Lauderdale doc

I was in the studio with Jim when he cut this record and it's a doozy. The cut of "I Lost You" features an instrumental lineup including Buddy Miller, James Burton, Al Perkins, John Jarvis, Dennis Crouch and Chad Cromwell.

Re: Elvis taking questions on Twitter, June 5 '14

I rather like the idea, raised by this Q&A, of Costello rerecording the entire "Thriller" album, perhaps with The Roots backing him and Chopsticks Madel at the desk.

Thanks Neil. Pete is certainly a fun guy to gab with.

And yes, there's an episode with Steve in the can which will probably go out in about a month.

And here is part 2 of 2 with Pete: http://mrjeremydylan.com/post/858598173 ... n-the-jimi

We delve into the back half of the album and get Pete's stories on I Don't Want to Go to Chelsea, Earthbound and playing Foxey Lady with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys!

I think you'll enjoy the second part, which has some more great anecdotes and the reveal of his most direct Hendrix-to-Elvis drum homage.

My Favorite Album Podcast - Pete Thomas, Steve Nieve, etc.

As some of you may know, I started a podcast called My Favorite Album at the beginning of this year. Each episode I have a guest musician on and we breakdown their favorite record and it's impact on their own music. I got together with both Pete Thomas and Steve Nieve at their hotel while they were ...

Re: Pete Thomas on Spicks and Specks

For those non-Aussies on the forum, SPICKS AND SPECKS is a bit of an institution in modern Australian television. The original run of the show came to an end a few years back, and this is the reboot with a largely unchanged format, but new host and team captains. It sort of the Australian NEVER MIND...

Re: Steve Nieve plays a Tall Piano, Germany, Nov. 2014

I rather wish I could be there. I had an interesting chat with Steve about the dynamics of what the scale of this piano does to the sound. Apparently, you get an incredibly rich bass sound because of the physical depth of the instrument.

Re: Elvis plays Deni Blues & Roots Fest, Easter 2014, Austra

Some general notes on the show - Elvis was in teriffic voice. Particularly with the rapid fire delivery in Chelsea, he shot the lyrics out with swagger and precision. The Imposters were incredibly tight, in that great mid-tour groove a band gets to after a few shows. - There was a group of 20-someth...
